Box Project Update #2

Hi guys, and welcome back to my tech 7 blog! Today I will be talking about my progress on my box since my last post. So, let’s begin!

Like I said in my last post, I cut the bottom piece of wood for my box too small. I sadly had tp abandon that wood, as I couldn’t fix that problem, so I got new wood, made the correct measurements, and cut that wood the right size. After I fixed that problem, I went on to the next step of my box project, gluing my wood together. On the first day of working on this step, I glued the front, back, and sides together. You are not allowed to glue the bottom and top, for my case just the bottom since my box will have no lid, at the same time that you glue the front, back, and sides, for many reasons. It is physically harder to hold all 6 pieces together at once than to glue them separately. Also, you might need to use the belt sander to sand down and straighten your wood before you glue the top and bottom to your box. Lastly, you need to use a vice grip after you glue your wood together in order to make sure your box isn’t messy and the glue works to its best potential. In order to use the vice grip, you need to make 2 different glues so that you can actually use the vice grip in the correct way. So after I glued my front, back, and sides together, I put it in the vice grip and let it dry over night. The next day, I used the belt sander to flatten the current top and bottom of my box, and then I glued the bottom of my box. After I put that in the vice grip and let it dry over night, this is how it looked:

Now I’m ready to paint and stain my box! I’ll see you in my next post! Bye!
