Rube Goldberg 3

My group and I just had another meeting on Monday 2/25/19. We had a problem with one of our steps so we had to change most of our machine. The change was good because I feel that we are using the different materials better. My group is going to meet today. Today we will be fixing one step of our Rube Goldberg and trying it. Our newest revision has similar steps from the first one but are in different places and order. We had also changed our sketch and made it a little bit neater. This is our materials list:

Rube Goldberg-2

Me and my group had another meeting today, it was good my group added another four steps and finished our sketch. My group has also built our machine and tested a bunch of times. We had not gotten past our 5th step yet and we made some adjustments in between the 3rd and 4th step but they didn’t help. What we did to adjust it was to change the angle of something. We realized that we were getting father when it was the first way we had it. My groups is going to have to change a step and clean up our sketch a little bit, but for changing the step my group has some idea’s about what we are going to change it to. We are going to confirm the ideas at our next meeting Here is a picture of our sketch now:

Historical Philly

Historical Philly

By Max

Philadelphia, Friday, November 9, 2018  It was a rainy day in Philly. All the fifth graders came stomping out of the bus. There first stop was National Constitution Center. The first thing they did at the constitution center was visit the temporary Alexander Hamilton. At that exhibit the fifth graders saw a model of the gun that Hamilton got killed with. The fifth graders also saw some letters that Hamilton wrote. In that exhibit there was a poster of Hamilton. The next exhibit they went to was called signers hall. In that exhibit there were statues of all the people who signed the constitution. After they enjoyed that exhibit they were going to see an interactive show called Living News. All of the fifth graders liked the show. Then a couple minutes later they had to go to another show called Freedom Rising It was not interactive but all the fifth graders liked it too. Everyone liked the museum but it was time to move on

All the fifth graders got split up into groups and Had tour guides to show us around Philly The next thing the fifth graders were off to see was the liberty bell. They learned that the Liberty Bell rang 13 times before it got cracked. The fifth graders learned that the crack got bigger because when the colonists tried to fix they made the crack bigger. They also learned that the Liberty Bell doesn’t ring anymore.

The next stop on our walking tour they visited was Independence Hall. The fifth graders Saw the Rising Sun chair. That chair is famous because it is where George Washington Signed the constitution. Also the fifth graders saw the room where the Constitution and Declaration of Independence were written. There was also a room that they saw were the colonists could have dinner and in that room they also kept guns for the Pennsylvania militia. The Liberty Bell also used to be held at the top of Independence Hall.

The next Historic site the fifth grader visited were courtrooms. One thing the fifth graders learned about was that the judges from the supreme court only came twice a year for 2 weeks each time. If you were accused of a crime and went to trial you would have stand in a holding cell. In this reporters eyes this was a great successful trip.

Sister Fights

Sister Fights

By Max F.

For school my whole class and I had to write personal narrative about a problem we had. I hope you like it here is my mine:

Over a weekend in the early afternoon my sister Sophie and I were playing a game we made up together. This game is a mix of gaga and dodge ball. “I don’t want to play with these rules anymore. Can we change them?” Sophie said. “Sure.” I said but I didn’t really want to play with different rules.. So, she changed the rules. I wasn’t allowed to play my best and there was not going to be catch outs but I said that it wasn’t fair if there were no catch out because that is how the game was made to be. So I said “It’s not fair if there is no catch outs.” She and I ended up Compromising and saying there is just no catch outs of the wall. That was probably the only way we would play because Sophie would then get mad. But from my point of view I thought that the whole thing was stupid because that’s how we’ve always played with catch outs.

We started playing. I got Sophie out but she said she I didn’t get her out. That happened again. I was getting a little bit annoyed. I stomped upstairs. I gave her two chances. I felt that I shouldn’t waste my time playing with my sister if she wasn’t going to play fairly. I went to my parents who were having a conversation and I said to them “ Sophie’s not playing fairly.” Then she came back upstairs and she said to my parents all the bad things I did her. But it didn’t make any sense because I didn’t do anything bad to her. We decided to do something different because our game wasn’t working out like we wanted it to.

After that whole thing I went to do something different. I walked out to my driveway and got a ball then started shooting some hoops. A couple minutes later my sister came out and said she wanted to play. I came outside to be serious and practice. Sophie wanted to lower the hoop but I didn’t want to. In the end we worked it out and she played on the 10 ft hoop and we had a good time.

Thank you for reading. I hope you liked it.

My Expert Book Reflection

In third grade I posted an expert book. My expert book was about college Football. We were not allowed to do any research. When I picked the order of our chapters I put my chapters in order by what happens most. I thought planning and writing my expert book was hard, but all the hard work was worth it. The funnest part of making my expert was adding pictures. I thought making my expert book was one of the funnest projects of third grade.

Read my book, I hope you enjoy my expert book.
