We made our second circuits a few weeks ago. In this circuit we didn’t try to make just one LED light up. We tried to make three light up! This circuit was a lot more complicated because more LED lights equals more wires to cut. Cutting the wires was kind of difficult for me. In the beginning I couldn’t do it and had to get help but then I cut my first wire and it got easier from there!  Placing the wires was also confusing because they had to line up with the LED light on both sides. You also had to place your resister. There were two resisters that looked extremely alike so if you used the wrong one your LED light wouldn’t light up. Then you had to connect the battery cap to the battery and you had to use a 9 bolt battery or else the LED lights wouldn’t light up. You had to connect the black wire to a side and the red wire to a side. At first my LED light wouldn’t light up and I didn’t know why. I started from the begging and it flashed on a few times and eventually it did light up….. then went off again. I’m not sure why it wou;dent light up. Maybe it was the battery but on the box it said “guarantee five years”. I liked the challenge and trying to get the light to light up again.

We recently made catapults! It was a lot easier then I though it would be. The only things we used to make them were popsicle sticks and rubber bands. Also a Bottle cap which is the load because that’s where you would put things to launch. I don’t have a hot glue gun so I couldn’t hot glue it on. I think the purpose of this project was to learn the effort and load and how to measure it. I also wanted to paint my catapult but the paint could have stuck all the popsicle sticks together so it wouldn’t work… Anyways this project was very fun and taught me more about catapults and I will do it again but try different types of catapults!

Tech #5

Our recent project was our bread boards. In this project we had to try to make the LED light n the breads board light up. When I was building mine I also had the instructions video up so that made it a lot easier. Everything was going smoothly until the end. I kinda freaked out when I THOUGH I was missing the red wire. Turns out it was at the bottom of my bag. Then I didn’t understand how to cut it! My sister and my friend helped me and I managed to cut it. Then when I plugged everything in it didn’t light up! I took everything off and put it on again and…. NOTHING! Out of hope I tried one more time and…. IT WORKED! As soon as t up a grabbed my iPad and took a picture. This project was a little stressful at the end but I managed to get it done and finish it. Overall this project was fun when I finished and I would do it again.

In technology we learned about the sinking of the titanic.  We talked about possible ways it sunk along with the Dee bridge and the challenger disaster. In 1912 the titanic sank. Maybe one of the reasons was because the material of the ship wasn’t strong enough. Or maybe it was the angle that it hit the iceberg. I don’t think that the people that built the titanic though hard enough to design every angle of the titanic and make sure that all angles could wouldn’t be damaged by an ice burg. If the iceberg hit the back of the titanic would it still have sunk? The same thing happened with the Dee bridge. It couldn’t hold the train so the train dropped into the water. Maybe the material the train was to heavy? I have lots of questions about the signing of the titanic and my goal is to try and figure them out.

My Expert Book- Becoming An Expert On Planets And Stars

I am a published author! I have written a book that I am a expert on. My book is about planets and stars. This book took so much time to make, about two months.  I chose this topic because I know a lot about  planets and stars. The assignment was about making a book with captions, text features and elaborating and don’t forget making this book the best it can be. The most important thing to do to make this book successful was to name my chapters and order them in my book. It is about understanding planets and stars in an whole other way. In this nonfiction book it’s not just facts, facts ,facts facts. There are also ideas. Like the whole idea of the story is to really understand what stars and planets are. You need an idea for the facts.  I learned all about planets and stars from my sister. I have been interested in them since I was six and I am almost nine, so almost three years now. I read books about planets and stars. I read my sister’s book on planets and stars. I learned some stuff on National Geographic on planets and stars. I learned not to mention the word “I’ in my book.  I also learned to add in statistics expert words and how to organize my chapters. I also learned that in my introduction  to explain what the whole book is about to dry and say a least a few sentences about each part of my book to use fancy word and explain what they mean in the glossary and adding pictures that describe what your saying in the book.  I learned how to organize my information text. I put the information in my chapter that fit in my chapter name. i learned to use transition words like also, and, another reason, because, and one way. I also learned to use expert vocabulary, like insted of saying some lions live in groups you can say, Lions live in groups called prides. I have all of that in my book! I hope this book inspires you to read more about this topic when you are done reading this book. I hope you love learning about planets and stars in my book to! I love this topic and after you read this I hope you will love them as much as I do and I hope you can see that planets and star are very interesting.

Here it is…
