CU- france

To start this we had to pick our our country and partner that we  wanted to work with. After that we hit the books! We had several books to do our research with. Then in all of the five cultural  universe we put our info in the one that fit in our packet. When we finished that packet we started making our tour guides. When that was finished we started making the ACTUAL comic books. The five cultural universals are politics, social aspects, economics, beliefs, and cultural arts. The title of my book is called favorite part of the project was making out characters because we could get as creative as we liked. I found a few things challenging. One is that when you insert a picture you have to make sure that it is exactly what you are talking about and describing. Like when we THOUGHT that we added in a picture of the louvre it turned out to be the white house! Also we had to make text boxes, and what was challenging about that is that they had to be the same size and they had to be in  the same spot. The last thing is the animations. We had to make a boat and then we had to make it come or fly in some how. It had to be in a spastic   way depending on what side your boat was facing. Also we had to know that difference between slide into the left and fly into the left. But finally we figured it out. I hope you enjoy my book!

Those Shoes”

by Maribeth Bolths

In the book “Those Shoes” by Maribeth Bolts Jeremy changes from selfish to giving.

In the beginning of the book Jeremy is selfish when he wants to be the fastest runner again. He says to his grandma, “I want new shoes.” But grandma said there is no room for want just need and what you need are new boots. Jeremy doesn’t care what his grandma says all he cares about is new sneakers. Then at recess Jeremy has a hole in his sneakers. Mr. Passkey gave Jeremy new shoes and he didn’t even say thank you or care that Mr. Passkey gave him new shoes. This shows me that Jeremy is being selfish because the only shoes he will accept are those shoes.

Also, in the beginning of the book Jeremy wants to buy shoes that are too small for him. For example he made his grandma go to four stores just to buy those shoes. In the first store they had those shoes but they are too expensive then they go to three thrift shops and in one of them Jeremy sees those shoes. He buys those shoes even though they are to small for him. Grandma is not happy about that. Jeremy doesn’t care. Jeremy knows his family is poor but he still buys those shoes. This shows me that Jeremy is not thinking clearly about those shoes.

At the end of the story Jeremy changes from selfish to giving. For example when Antonio and Jeremy were playing basketball Antonio jumped and a loose piece of tape came right off his shoe. Jeremy had two pairs of shoes. “I’m not going to do it.” Jeremy said to himself three times. He wasn’t going to give Antonio  his new shoes that were too small for him. Then later that day Jeremy went across the street to Antonio’s apartment building. He put his new shoes in front of Antonio’s door rang the doorbell and ran away. The next day Jeremy saw Antonio smiling at his new shoes. Jeremy felt happy looking at Antonio’s smile. This is important because it tells us that Jeremy thinks that a friend is more important than any old pair of shoes.

My Expert Book- Becoming An Expert On Planets And Stars

I am a published author! I have written a book that I am a expert on. My book is about planets and stars. This book took so much time to make, about two months.  I chose this topic because I know a lot about  planets and stars. The assignment was about making a book with captions, text features and elaborating and don’t forget making this book the best it can be. The most important thing to do to make this book successful was to name my chapters and order them in my book. It is about understanding planets and stars in an whole other way. In this nonfiction book it’s not just facts, facts ,facts facts. There are also ideas. Like the whole idea of the story is to really understand what stars and planets are. You need an idea for the facts.  I learned all about planets and stars from my sister. I have been interested in them since I was six and I am almost nine, so almost three years now. I read books about planets and stars. I read my sister’s book on planets and stars. I learned some stuff on National Geographic on planets and stars. I learned not to mention the word “I’ in my book.  I also learned to add in statistics expert words and how to organize my chapters. I also learned that in my introduction  to explain what the whole book is about to dry and say a least a few sentences about each part of my book to use fancy word and explain what they mean in the glossary and adding pictures that describe what your saying in the book.  I learned how to organize my information text. I put the information in my chapter that fit in my chapter name. i learned to use transition words like also, and, another reason, because, and one way. I also learned to use expert vocabulary, like insted of saying some lions live in groups you can say, Lions live in groups called prides. I have all of that in my book! I hope this book inspires you to read more about this topic when you are done reading this book. I hope you love learning about planets and stars in my book to! I love this topic and after you read this I hope you will love them as much as I do and I hope you can see that planets and star are very interesting.

Reflection On Persuasive Writing Experience

My persuasive essay was about how littering is bad for the Earth. I learned that it takes more than just finding a problem and writing about it to make a persuasive essay. It takes a lot of writing lessons to make your essay the best that it can be. You have to convince your audience, you have to talk to your audience, and you have to feel really strong about what you are writing about. I also used transition words like, for example, as a result, and I believe. If you want to write a persuasive essay you can’t be wishy washy. Things that wishy washy people say is… “Maybe we should start doing this. And… I think this is a good idea. The most effective thing I did to persuade my audience was talk to them and ask them questions and saying stuff like..   I know what you are thinking but don’t worry.

After watching my video I was proud and a little disappointed because I could have looked up more and pointed to myself when I said: “I believe” and “we should” stop doing this and start doing that. I think I persuaded my audience because I used powerful words. For example,  I used phrases such as “I know what you are thinking” and “How would you feel?”I also followed directions. I listened to  directions  and I followed all the charts and tools we had.  I did my best and made my persuasive essay the best it could be. What I could’ve done differently was look up more and add pictures to my board when I got recorded so the audience could understand how I was feeling. I could have named my essay, “We Need To Do Something About Littering.” Thank you for reading this reflection of my persuasive essay. I appreciate your time.

Fairy Garden

My sister and I were playing inside. “I am so bored of playing tag!” I  groaned.

“Then what do you want to do?” she asked.

I thought for a minute. Then it hit me. “Let’s make a fairy garden!” I said.

“Wow that’s your first great idea ,” Jess said.

“Hey I am only five.” I said anoyed

Then we went outside. “Wow what a perfect spot.” I said amazed. There was something very unusual about the spot that was not there before.

”Wow!” Jess and I said.

It was the most beautiful thing we ever saw. There was a tree with purple flowers blooming on it and there were three blue jays singing a wonderful tune. Slowly there were petals falling down the tree and on to the soft grass.

“Let’s make it -” but before I could finish Jess was ready to start. Then me and Jess  nodded at the same time.

Then out of nowhere she dug up a hole. “Quick go and get your water bottle!” Jess yelled.

“Fine.” I said.

Then I came back and Jess grabbed the water out of my hands with a big force.

”Hey!”I barked

“Just relax,” she said sweetly. Then she put some of the water water in the hole. Not to much. I said

“Go and get a leaf!” I said.

Then Jess came back with a leaf.

Put it in the water. See?”

“It’s a boat.” I said.

“Oh,” Jess said. “Go and get sticks!”

Then I came back with five sticks.

“Great! Now go get a leaf,” Jess said sweetly again.

“Again!” I groaned loudly.

“Get a grip,” she said.

Then I came back with a green leaf.

“Perfect!” Jess said.

Then we put the sticks flat on the ground of the fairy garden. Then we put the leaf on top of the sticks.

“It’s a bed.” Jess said.

“I see.” I said.

Then we went to our bran new flower  garden and picked the prettiest flowers we could find. We found a lavender flower and a pink flower and a  purple flower.

Then we went to our brand new blueberry bush. We picked the ripest ones we could find. Then we put them in the fairy garden.  Then the sky started to get dark purple I could feel the wind getting harder and harder in my face the crickets started chirping.

So we went inside. I wonder if the fairies are coming. I wondered then, I imagined  fairies hanging out in our new fairy garden. Then I went to the kitchen and enjoyed a nice dinner.
