Technology post #1

Last week which was the fist week of Tech we started to learn about safety and how everything works around the room. We also learned about atoms what they are and what they do. For one day we had a breakout room which was based on safety. We also went over all the rules we have to follow if we want to do projects. And last we had to make a design which was on the bored with different sized blocks.

Capstone Blog Post #3

My class and I have been working on Capstone, capstone is our last project of the year and the biggest. In my last blog post I put some of my goals like memorizing on time and not making my script overtime so far. I have not fallen behind and my script is right on time and I memorized my script which to me was going to be the hardest part but turned out to be the easiest.

The new steps I have done are my essay. My essay helped a lot because I wrote lots of my notes and examples and my beginning, middle and end so I could basically just copy and paste with a little change so the essay made it very easy to write my script. Although the essay was not that easy to write because I had to find a way to put all my notes in an essay and I had to choose the best ones then summarize it.

My script was much easier than the essay because the essay was basically the script. The script did take longer though because I had to time all the slides and sometimes remembered a fact so I had to make a new slide in the middle so it messed up all the timing below it. I also had to write what type of pictures I wanted next to every slide.

After I finished my script I started to find pictures. It was very hard to find pictures because they had to be large and creative commons licenses so I only had very little to choose from, but I ended up finding really good pictures after a week.

To memorize my script it took me two days. It was very short because one night I spent two hours on it making sure I had it perfect. Then over the weekend I practiced way less so I stumbled a little so this coming weekend 6/12 – 6/13 I have to make sure to practice so I do not stumble when I have to record.

Over all I am really happy with the ending piece and I think this is the best project I have done. If you want to read my essay click this link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1eUYfekI3EVtYz225-uYz49i9ABlMv8YsB_RQoEqIvVc/edit

Capstone Reflection #2

My class and I are doing our Capstone project. For capstone we have to figure out a main inquiry question. Mine is how are Broadway musicals normally produced and how will the pandemic affect the future of live theater? Then come up with sub questions, then we have to do research to answer all those sub questions. When I first started to come up with my main inquiry question it was pretty easy because I had a few options in my head for like 3 years, the sub questions were very hard to do I would sit up at night thinking what do I want to know about Broadway if I knew we had to do sub questions I would have started 3 years earlier.

In the end they turned out kind of well these are my sub questions: How was Broadway before COVID 19? How many tickets were sold on average before COVID and how have ticket sales been after? How will making Broadway shows be different after COVID? How will making Broadway shows be different after COVID? What innovations were created in response to COVID?

Sometimes it is hard to get information if you do not have a good website to take notes on or you just can’t find a website at all. That is what happened with some of my sub questions so I had to reword them and I had lots of good websites to choose from. Once we have done that we have to come up with someone to do our interview for my class and I just finished that step next we have to put our research together so we can make a script, for the presentation we get to choose how we present what we chose from we video, ted talk, or ignite.

The last step I did so far was the interview. My topic is Broadway so I chose my grandpa (Roger Hess) because he is a Broadway producer. I thought it would be really weird to interview my grandpa. I was right but it went by quickly because I made it. Before I interviewed him I had to come up with 10 – 15 questions no more no less. It was not too hard coming up with interview questions but for a lot I ended up either changing them or rewording them.

During my interview I used my mom’s computer to do face time on and used my Chromebook to take notes. I had a lot of notes but sometimes it was hard to write what he was saying because a lot of the time he said the things, and some things he just could not remember. But at the end of the interview I looked over my notes and I had a lot of new information to put in my slides. For my questions I did a lot of questions about him and his job then for the rest I asked about the shows and how his cast has been affected by Covid 19.

These are my interview questions: Why did you want to be a producer

  • How many years have you been a producer
  • how many shows have you produced and what is your favorite one so far
  • What  accomplishments are you most proud of?
  • What are the day to day responsibilities you have?
  • What is the easiest thing about your job
  • What is the hardest thing about your job
  • Have you been nominated for any awards or won any
  • How did Covid change how your shows  were practicing and performing
  • Are you using any new technologies to communicate with the actors
  • How has Covid affected the attitude of the actors or actresses being on stage and the stage crew
  • How has Covid affected what you were working on
  •  How have you been making a living?
  • How do you think Broadway will look after Covid
  •  Do you think that Broadway will recover

My favorite part of this project so far was probably doing the interview because I liked coming up with questions and emailing my grandpa like I am a super famous interviewer. I also loved finding out new things about my grandpa that I never knew about him.

My goals for the next step which is writing the script are that the narrative is long enough to fit the amount of slides I need so that I don’t go over the limit or try to speak really fast so I can fit information, and that when I put it into the actual script it fits the amount of time which is 15 seconds, to make sure it is 15 seconds I can put a stopwatch and if it is less or more I will either cut out some words or add a little more information. In the end I hope I accomplish these goals.

Rube Goldberg Reflection #2

My class and I just finished our Rube Goldberg project (4/28/2021). I had a lot of fun doing this project. The steps we had to do were, draw a sketch of the steps we had to build, watch lots of videos for ideas for our sketch, build the steps, test them until it works, and then make the video. My favorite part was testing the steps because I would scream every time it did not work. my lest favorite was coming up with what to build and building it. I really liked how it ended up in the end. Overall I really liked this project and I think I succeed all my goals.

Capstone Reflection

My class and I have started to do Capstone. So far we have come up with our main inquiry question and sub questions. My topic is Broadway my main inquiry question is How are Broadway musicals normally produced and how will the pandemic affect the future of live theater? My sub topics are how was Broadway before Covid 19? How many tickets were sold on average before Covid 19 and how many are predicted to be sold after? How will Broadway in the making be different? Will all of the really good actors still be comfortable performing with that many people in the room? How long does it take to make a Broadway show? My favorite part so far was coming up with my main inquiry question. It was my favorite because I did it with Mrs. Edwards and had help from my friends. I did not like doing my sub topics as much because I kept questioning if this was the same and my main question. My goals for the rest of the project are having it perfect a little before the deadline, getting to find a lot of information and not being too stressed.  I think this project will be really fun.

Reflection on Rube Goldberg Project

This month my class and I have started our Rube Goldberg project. So far I have drawn my picture for the steps that I have to make. I have also started to build some of my project. I think the hardest part for what I already did was coming up with what to build and building it. I think I am going to have a lot of fun putting the video together and seeing it at the end. My goals for this project is I get it done on time, I meet all the requirements, and it turns out AMAZING in the end. So far I think this Rube Goldberg project has gone really well.

Immigration Project Reflection

My class and I just finished our wevideo for the immigration project. For the video, I had to write a script. Then I put all my answers from the interview together, timed the different slides, found pictures, and put it all together. In the end I really liked how it all turned out with all the pictures and the script. A couple things I found hard was making my answers from the interview into a script. Also finding all the right pictures to use was difficult because I did not have that many pictures of my mom, so I had to use stock photos and a lot of them were blurry, I could not find what I was looking for. Some things I enjoyed making in the wevideo was putting in the music and timing the pictures to line up to what I was saying. My favorite part about the process of making the video was learning a lot more about my mom and her experience as a immigrant.

Immigration Interview

This month my class and I are doing a Immigration project and we have just finished the interviewing part. I loved doing the interview because  got to do my mom I learned a lot more about her than I thought I would, she told me cool story’s I never knew. She also told me the steps she did while traveling. She had to answer 15 of my questions witch took longer than I thought because she barley remembered anything, but in the end I got pretty good answers and a really good story to tell.

Reflection On Class Debate

For my Debate Project, we split into two groups boys verse girls. The girls sat on one side of the class and the boys on the other, it was so much fun. The thing I loved doing the most was writing my script, practicing it, and presenting it in front of the class. I loved writing my script because I got to learn a lot of new things about why plastic bags are better than paper bags, and getting to write it with my partner Sofia. The thing I loved about practicing it was when I was practicing I was on face time with Sofia and we said our hole script in front of my parents, so we where ready to do it in front of the hole class. The thing I loved about presenting it was at the begging when we where about to give our presentation we all got nervous, but when we started speaking all of looked less scared then we had looked at the begging.

Mila’s Constitution Project

For my constitution project I did a we video I loved doing it. One thing that came kind of hard to me was the script because it had to be two to four minutes and I had to say a lot during that time and I had already used up all my research, and I could not find anything new to say. Although I loved finding the pictures because I got to see Susan B Anthony as a kid and a adult and who she worked with. Over all the we video came easy to me and I loved making it.

How Susan B Anthony helped the 19th Amendment pass?
