Capstone is Here

0

This week and last week our class started Capstone. Capstone is a fun yet stressing project where you choose a topic and research about it. You have to plan an interview and a site visit as well. A site visit is when you plan to go to a place and learn about it.
For Capstone I chose to do CSI, if you did not know what that stand for, crime scene investigations. Our whole project start to finish will be 6 weeks. Including research, interview, site visit, a little project put together, writing paragraphs and gluing all of your pictures and paragraphs.

As you can see there is a lot of work in this project. We present our project on June 8th! Family members, school friends, cousins, can come to the museum. It is 5 to 6:30. All of our hard work will pay of. Hope to see you there.

Cool facts about my topic…

My PSA

0

Hey guys! Have not been posting for a long time but here is the PSA my group did. PSA if you did not know stands for public service announcement and I am announcing a human right. Our group only had 2 people in it but it was really fun to make and find out about human rights. If you do not know what a human right is or you know what it is, but you don’t know what it means click here to see my groups video, and if you liked it, please comment and I can post some of the other groups PSA’s. Lastly, our class entered the contest for PSA’s, so if you would like to see some of some peoples blogs through out NY go to this link.

Snow Day Poem… Warning Very Funny!

0

I woke up this morning

a smile on my face

I saw a snowy surrounding

all over the place.

As it glissened and glimmered

as it feel on the ground,

it made no trace of any sound.

As I saw the wind

pushing the snow

it seemed to have a sudden glow.

Then I had an idea

I’d make a snowman

I’d make it smile

and named it Fran

Then I saw a can

and I gave her a hat

Then I got mad and gave her

a smack!

As she rolled down the hill she gave out a cry

She wished she was able to fly

And now I hate snow man no more for me

So I started a snow ball fight with my friend Phoebe.

As she throw a ball smack at my face.

I cryed out I better get out of this place.

Now I hate snow man

and i can’t have a snowball fight

So now it’s time to say good night. ❄️

This week in school we have been introduced to a new project that we have been starting. We are going to do a PSA on human rights. We are going to give lots of information because people need to learn about it and that they need to obey it. We are going to be making a PSA on the topic we like. We will be doing these in groups of for. I am so exited to do this.
This is the link that helped us start this project.

Howdy!

It’s almost March 1st! What does that mean? It means only 16 days until my group’s performance of SHREK Jr. I will be playing the role of Donkey. I am extremely excited. Last summer, at my camp, we also performed SHREK. So, I know many of the lines and songs of all the characters. At camp, I played Pinocchio, and I wanted Donkey, so this is a great opportunity to be my favorite character. Below I am including an invite if you want to come. I do hope to see you there! If you are in 5L it’s FREE! Remember, March 16th at 6:15 at Yorktown Stage.

My Commercial

0

Hello, all.

It has been a while since I have last blogged, and I have a lot of new things to share!

As you know, my passions are theatre and music, and this past week, actually on the 17th of February, my TV clip came out. A TV clip is a commercial that airs on a certain network during commercial time. I auditioned for the role, heard that I was cast, and then spent ELEVEN hours recording the video that you will see below. You will laugh that I spent ELEVEN hours recording because you will only see me in it for 11 seconds…and not all at once!

Even though it was really fun to be on camera, and meet new people who share the same passion, it was tiring work. It was stressful, because you have to be acting on set the whole entire time. The two main singers in the video are well known. Mimi, the girl, played Matilda on Broadway. William has been in a lot of commercials, and the break dancer is also famous. It was nice to learn from other actors who had more experience. I can’t wait for my next audition.

Before I share the link, I want to say that the message of this video is about Kindness. It’s true that everyone needs to be a little kinder in this world, because it’s not always a happy place.

If you do like the video, you can watch it on SPROUT TV, or the YOUTUBE link provided below.

Here is the link to my video.

Valentine’s Day Card Sale

0

Our class has been raising money for the past 5 months. We have decided to donate to three main charities. For our next project we are going to be selling Valentine’s Day cards. The Valentine’s sale will pay to send kids from Mount Vernon to summer camp.

On Valentine’s Day the 5th grade will put a Valentines card in a kid’s locker, if the parent ordered one. The kid may also receive a small candy.

Comment on whitch one you think is the best.

If you would like to help with any of our projects email dbesancon@scarsdaleschools.org

Till my next post, see ya’.

4  The stairs of seperation split us

5 Get checked for sickness, six seconds

6 Find relative long time no see

Those are 6 word stories from Ellis Island…

The fifth grade classes of FM went to Ellis Island this week after studying about immigration. The weather was cold and crisp, but the sun warmed us, just like the idea of becoming an American to many immigrants who came to Ellis Island for hope and freedom.

Here are some SIX word stories.

Undocumented names lie upon this wall.

Come with ideas, see them grow.

Leave behind friends, family and intolerance.

It’s not easy, never give up!
