While boys speak up during class more often than girls and girls are more likely to email, I don’t think it really has anything to do with gender and more with personalities. Some students are really outgoing and extroverted and they are willing to ask questions in front of the entire class. On the other hand the more introverted students are more nervous about asking a question and would rather email it than talk in front of everyone. I think gender is irrelevant in this conversation and it’s more of a coincidence. Both methods of communication are fine though and whichever way you chose to contact the teacher they are both good.
