Blog Post #3

Today we built circuits and I thought it was really fun! here is a picture of my circuit:

The battery is connected to two wires. These wires are going to then connect to the switch and then there is another wire that will connect to the light bulb. Then, the light bulb would go on. I had a lot of fun and even though it took some help and a lot of time, I hope I will build a circuit later on!Ā šŸ˜Š

Spinning Into Space

It was the first day of Heathcote School and kids were rushing to see the new playground equipment they installed over the Summer. They also installed a new ā€œSpinnerā€, the kids call it.

It turned out that kids were falling off of the spinner and getting sent to the nurseā€™s office. This was dangerous when kids were not supervised by adults.

The school decided to ban the spinner for a few weeks. This annoyed a lot of the kids but some thought it was good. Carlie, one of the students says ā€œWhen the spinner was banned, I thought it was for the safety of the kidsā€. Lilly, another student, says that she thought that it was for safety and she predicted that the spinner was coming back. Lilly was correct. After a few weeks, the school put the spinner back.

Now, there is a monitor for the spinner and a limited amount of people allowed on. This is better than the way they did it before the school banned the spinner because it is safer, and as fun as the one before.

Why Do I Like Cheese?

Why do I like cheese so much? Well, I like cheese because of its taste. I have a lot cheese favorites.Ā These are the cheeses I like the most: (They are the Roquefort, the Muenster, and the Camenbert)

These are not ALL of the cheeses I like but they are part of the really-like-and-have-to-have-it group of cheeses. As people say, France is the home of cheese and I, as a matter of fact come from France! I go there every Summer and go to a Ā very-packed-with-cheese cheese shop. There is a window Ā on the floor that leads to a cheese cave where GIGANTIC cheeses are found:

I really love cheese because it is fresh and salty and at the same time, tasty, and I REALLY, REALLY cheese!

Independant Reading Jot: “Vanished” By: Sheela Chari

I think that Amanda does not mind her own business. One example from chapter 19 of the book is “‘Is it true?’ Amanda said to Lynne. ‘Did you take Neela’s veena?'”. This example shows that Amanda was squeezing her way into Lynne’s business and asking her too many questions about what happened with the veena. Another detail from the text is “‘Because you’re a thief?’ Amanda asked”. This shows that Amanda gets into everyone’s personal business. In this part of the chapter, Amanda was bombarding Lynne with questions about what happened to Neela’s veena and how she got involved with the whole situation. These reasons show that Amanda does not mind her own business.

Book Clubs: “Bridge to Terabithia” Jot 1

I think the new bridge was the focus of the title “Bridge to Terabithia”. One example is that Leslie swung on the old rope and since it was old, it fell. That was how Leslie died. Jesse wanted to build a more stable bridge so that nobody would die again if it ever rained a lot. Another example is that since the old way to get to Terabithia was gone, Jesse had to build a new one. This time it was a bridge, not a rope. These examples show that the new bridge was the focus of the title “Bridge to Terabithia”.

What Was Life Like For A Colonial Slave?

This year, we studied a lot of information on Colonial life. I was specifically interested in slaves. The class hadĀ to do informational books on subjects. I was fascinated by how slaves were treated and I learned a lot of information I never knew before. I studied a lot using compare and contrast techniques and did a lot of hard work. After a lot of effort, work, and editing, I was finally finished with my whole informational book!

I hope you enjoy my book and learn a lot of things!

Writing long and strong on jots – character

Justin is very curious about small things. He likes to think aboutĀ things that are very small like how the teacher looks at him when he is thinking about something that happened in his life and how Noah reacts to how Justin makes a new friend. He thinks about how people like Penelope Ann Murphy react to what he did which was he told his mother how Penelope stole her mother’s Ballet shoes for a school project. He thought about how Montana C. stood up for him while Penelope was crying about what he did. Justin thinks mostly about what people do or say and how people react to what he says or does.

Welcome to 2016-2017!

It’s a brand new school year! I’m super excited! I also miss my old teacher. This year is a bit like last year on Fridays because we don’t get any homework on that day except for reading! I am also very excited for the special events this year! My teacher is super funny and she says sometimes that she is really crazy! We have already done so many projects so far. My teacher loves books especially books by Kate DiCamillo! I love my fourth grade teacher!
