Capstone Interveiw and SIte visit

On Thursday May 24th, 2018, I did my expert interview. There was a dude named Johnny and he was a very nice dude. He answered all twenty of my questions and for each question, he explained even more than I wanted to though for some questions he couldn’t answer them. I copy and pasted all of the questions into a survey and I made some of the answers multiple choice. I also made some of the answers short response. Some student interns that came to our school took the survey and chloe(student intern) sent it to some of her friends so I am going to have a lot of surveys completed. Right now I have six surveys completed so I am on a good track right now(Atleast I think I am). I am thinking about my site visit now and I am thinking I should either go to a resturant and take notes on how many people were on their phones and if it was only adults or if it was kids or if it was adults and kids. I will also try to guess their ages and see the most popular age that are on their phones. I might also go to a food court and take notes there. I think that the food court will be better because there will probably be more people at the food court.

Field Trip Restruante

Today we went to a field trip to a Peruvian restaurant. I was sitting with Om, Leo and Marcello and leo’s mom. There were plenty of different dishes like lomo saltado, Pollo saltado, ensalada, and tallarin saltado. We had to try to only talk in Spanish. I said mucho gracias and por favor. I tried a new drink which is called chocho masato. Before the field trip, I thought I would like nothing but after the field tried I really liked it. I liked the food so much that I took some of the food to go. In the end I really liked the food and I hope I can go back there one day.

Passion Project Final!!!!

Here is my Passion Project!!!!!!!! This was a very fun project and I finally get to share it on my blog!! Hope you enjoyed and learned a lot

Passion Project #14

Today we finished our PASSION PROJECT. I finished rainforest. We added pictures and transitions to all of the slide. During the whole project, I learned a lot about animals and how dangerous they could be to humans. I am really happy that I started the project and I think this project was a big success. Now I have Capstone to worry about.

Passion Project #13

Today in class, some students were already done with passion projects so they got to share! I am a little nervous about sharing the passion project. Today I worked on most dangerous animals in the rainforest. Tomorrow I plan to keep working on it. Today I learned that I like to list or put bullet points. I also learned that for me so far, writing top ten or top 8 is the best.

Passion Project #12

Today I accomplished polishing some of the shark slide and I got another picture. I learned how to take a picture on your phone and putting it into your slide on drive. I had to download the drive app on my phone. Tomorrow I plan to keep polishing the slides.

Passion Project day #11

Today I accomplished the most dangerous water animal by writing in the top ten animals and saying a fact about each one. I had to write to slides. I learned that when you are writing the top ten and you do not want to bore the readers you should start each sentence with a different begining each time. Tomorrow, I plan to start the most dangerious in the rainforest.

Passion project day #10

Today I got half of the “Which is the most dangerous water animal. I learned that the most dangerous water animal is the Chironex (also known as the box jellyfish). Tomorrow I plan to put in the rest of the animals and say how surprising it is that the animals with huge teeth did not get #1.

Capstone

Capstone is a project where you work independantly on a topic you really enjoy working on. Capstone is passion project times two. How did we come up with our questions? We thought about our topic and we tried to find questions all around the topic. We had to grade our questions on a rubric. We were aiming for a three or a four. When I graded it, I thought my question was a four. We are starting our Capstone in the middle of our passion project because then we won’t have enough time to finish our capstone before the year ends. Most of the work is done in school. Very little work is done at home. First, you have to pick your topic. Then you have to pick a main inquiry question and some sub questions. My main inquiry question is,Why has cell phone use grown so quickly and how could we stop humans from being addicted to cell phones. My sub questions are who created the first cell phone and what inspired the person to do it, how long will cell phones be in use, how much time do humans need for one day on a cell phone, and finally why are cell phone apealing to humans.

At first, I had no idea at all what to do for capstone so that made me freak out and get scared alot. Our teacher said that our capstone could be our passion project topic, but your capstone has to include more information. Why is it so hard to just come up with the questions? It is hard because you start with a poster and you have to brainstorm as many questions as possible. I found questions together with a partner and we got eight altogether. I think I will be presenting with google slides.

Passion Project day #9

Today I still did not find the answer to the question so I just wrote more writing instead of that question. Marcello and I really looked very hard but if you look something up on the internet, sometimes completely different stuff pop up so that was what happened. Today I accomplished all of Tsetse fly and started most dangerious land animals. I learned that the most dangerious land animal is the mosquito. I found more than one website but mosquito won by one website. Tomorrow I plan to continue most dangerious land animals.
