Immigration: My Video #4

One of the biggest parts of my project is creating the video. So, I spent a good amount of time on it. I had to decide what to put on my slides and how to present them.

Since I had to put content on my slides, I thought it would be a good idea to add some quotes from the immigrant who this whole project is about. Adding quotes can help make the presentation more relatable. For quotes, I turned to my interview script for help. There, I found many good quotes that I could put on my slides. Many of these quotes were about the immigrant’s point of view about her immigration experience.  This got me thinking about how to present the content, which brings me to my next topic: How I organized my slides. I organized them in chronological order. This way made it easier to understand the story of my immigrant.

When I finished with all my content, I had to make sure it looked good. I wanted the presentation to be clean and clear. There were many things that I could do to make that happen. There are many ways to customize the video, such as theme, music, color, and font size. First, the theme. I picked a theme called Focus. It was easy to read and well…made people focus. The next piece of awesome customizability was the music. I looked through the music and I decided that I liked the default music. The default music was simple. The next thing I wanted to do is to change the color of the background. I really didn’t want a super flashy color because that would distract from my words. I ended up choosing a mustard yellow color. I thought it contrasted well with my white words. For my font size (just like the color), I didn’t want to distract from the content. I ended up choosing a medium size that wouldn’t get in your face and wasn’t too small so you couldn’t see it.

The last thing I had to add to the video was my voiceover. I wanted my voiceover to reflect on the quote that was on the screen at the time. I read each slide and decided what I could say to highlight what I thought was meaningful about it.
