A Musical Reflection!

Project: Making two songs on Garage Band inspired by Dvorak(see his New World Symphony at:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETNoPqYAIPI.)

Reflection:

Overall, I highly enjoyed this project. Listening to the pieces was really fun. Making my own piece inspired by Dvorak was even more fun! I also enjoyed working with Garage Band, once I got the feel for it.

I think my piece sounded slightly like Dvorak’s. I did a good job mimicking the musical conversation, but I could have done better with suspense. I used 3 tracks for both of my songs, going with “Less is more.” Plus, If there were a ton of tracks, it would be a messy jumble.

Looking back on my two songs, I think the second worked better than the first. I think the tracks were having more of a “conversation”. What is a “conversation”? Its when one track plays, then another, then back to the first track, then another track comes in, etc, sort of like a conversation between instruments. The “conversation” was my guide for the second piece. All in all I loved this project and I can’t wait for the next one.
