Most important things in tech.

November 8, 2021

1. Safety.

I have learned throughout this quarter that safety is very important in tech. Especially with all of these powerful tools such as a very hot saughtering iron or a drill press. These things can be very dangerous when you do not know what you are doing. That is why you should always be prepared.

2. Teamwork.

You need to know how to cooperate with other people. If you are not flexible and you are not one the same page as others it can end up dangerous. Partners are to help you, not to make things complicated. This means you need to go with the flow.

3. Participation.

If you go to class and your teacher tells you a bunch of directions for a project and you fo not listen then it can lead to very bad stuff. You have to be prepared to do something. The teacher is trying to teach you that, always listen because the teachers 1st priority is your safety.

Laser cutter.

November 8, 2021

Lazer cutting is very fun. It is so creative because you can think outside of the box and create your own design using only an app. Vectornator. First we select a design we want to lazer print and then we sketch it in Vectornator. I chose a picture from one of my favorite tv shows. I chose this design because it is special and I wanted to print something I love. When the laser printer is in action it definitely smells funny. It smells like s’mores.  When we are done with our design Mr. Calvert prints it. Personally I have not reached this step yet but I am close.

Our first activity..

November 7, 2021

Building blocks are something we did in the beginning of the house class. You are probably thinking, building blocks isn’t something you use to learn, it takes no thinking at all! Actually you are wrong. In this activity we had to work together as a team. We learned some more about each other and we learned to cuopirate with one another. Of course this activity lead us to many challenges but in the end of the day we learned something new,

Making a flashlight…

November 7, 2021

Our task was to make a flashlight that was waterproof and could fit in a small box. Of course this was not easy because we had to beggin completely from scratch.

#1, planning our flashlight.

I used a paper with grids about a courtier of an inch. I planned out with pipes I wanted to use and how big they were going to be. I also had to figure out we’re my batterie was going to go and where my light was going to go. I measured all the wires and the pipes and I wrote them down.

#2, building the flashlight.

first I had to cut my pipe to size. I measured the pipe to size, I marked the spot were I wanted to cut and I then placed it under the saw. Someone held the pipe very tight so it would stay put while I was sawing the pipes. After I sawed everything I cut my wired to size. I cute two short red ones and one long black one. I then had to strip them. After I was done with that I drill pressed holes in my flashlight where I wanted my switch and my light. Then I saughtered all the inside pieces together including the flashlight, wires, batterie and switch. Then I put the whole flashlight together and it actually worked.

#3, touches.

Last but not least it was time to decorate. I put a very simple design. After I was done the flashlight was done and ready for me to use.

Tai boys

October 26, 2021

There is a story of a hole soccer club in Thailand that went into a near bye cave system to explore for one boys birthday and they were deep into the cave when it started to rain. All entrenches were blocked and water could still spill in. The worse part was that the boys could not swim. That caused them to   Have to walk back in the cave. The cave was so long they had to go so deep. And also everything was pitch black so you could stick your hand right in front of your face and you could still not see it. They were in there forgo about a week when the parents began to get scared. They found there bikes outside of the cave so they assumed the boys were in the cave. They called search party’s to try and find them. Soon the whole world knew about it. Even experts could not get them out so they helped them little by little. They brought them food and flash lights. They sent divers in the cave and they eventually got them out after a month but one diver did die in the process.

Switches

October 26, 2021

In tech class we made switches. They contained a battery and an LED lights. We made a cool switch with cardboard. We needed to make a contraption that had to pieces of tinfoil mand when we flipped a switch or press a button the two pieces of tin foil would touch. The two tin foil pieces caused light to go on because the two tin foil pieces are conductors.

Satering.

October 3, 2021

Today in class I sauntered my jewelry piece. How I did it was it put this white cream on the places that I wanted to saucer. Then I turned on the sautering iron and waited for it to heat up. The Sautering iron kind of looked like a medal pencil or pen. Once the sautering iron got burning hot I took a ware and pressed the iron to the wire. The created a liquid almost like liquid metal. It was metallic and shiny and once I put a drop on the table it almost instantly got hard. When I got some “liquid metal” on my iron then I put the liquid metal on the places I wanted to come together on my jewelry piece. Kind of like glue.

Then I waited for the piece to dry which did not take very long and then my piece was ready!.

TEch largeness and smallness if the universe

September 13, 2021

Friday in class we learned about atoms and the universe. We learned now small atoms are. We leaned about some galaxy’s and how big universes are. I never knew that in some parties of the world you could see a part of our Milky Way. Where I live we cannot see the Milky Way because we live near so much light pollution in NYC. We learned that if a grape fruit was the size of our earth then a single atom would be the size of a blue berry!
