Plant Reflection Week 2

No sunlight plant.

Kinetic Sand plant and Normal plant.

The second week of planting is getting interesting. Our plants are growing with leaves but our teacher would not tell us what the plant is going to grow into. The manipulated one is not growing because the Kinetic sand is not growing because the Kinetic Sand is not giving the plant the correct minerals. My group’s controlled plant is growing very high it is cell 1 and 2 were not growing last week but cell 1 started growing! Cell 1 is ½ of a centimeter. Cell 4 is 2cm. Cell 3 is 8cm and 10cm. The plants that my group is growing is green and healthy.

The no sunlight that my class is growing is yellow. The plant is not healthy. It is not healthy because it is getting no sunlight. It has flowers but it is bright yellow and it looks like it is not going to grow. It is 3cm. There are 6 plants and 16 leaves altogether. In the controlled we did not change anything soil, sunlight, fertilizer, water and seeds.

Plant reflection Week One

Week one of planting was very fun. My group’s manipulated is we planted the plant in kinetic sand not soil. Our normal plant has 4 leaves in one cell and 2 leaves in another cell. Our other 2 cells are not growing. I think they are not getting enough sunlight or we forgot to put seeds. We do observations every day on our plant. I am very happy with my plant.

Math State Test Reflection

Math State Test Reflection

The math state test was easy on day one and two but on day three it was harder. Day 1 was a day that we had to do the bubble sheet. On day one there was multiplication questions but I only knew 1-5 and a little of six so I was kinda nervous. The area questions were easy for me because I understood area in class. The fraction questions were easy for me but one was hard. The number lines on fractions were confusing to me. I felt nervous because this was our first year .My brother who is in fifth grade told me his was hard when he did it. On day 1 I took 1hour and a half.

Day 2 was the bubble sheet again. There were the same type of questions like Day 1. There was a word problem that felt like I could never finish it. Data analysis was easy for me. On Day two there were 22 multiple choice questions. My pencil broke a lot too. After day too I felt proud because it was harder than day one. On day two there was area, fractions, multiplication and division, word problems and more. I felt like the bar models helped me with the word problems to understand the problem well.  After the test I felt tired.

Day 3 was the hardest day of all. On day 3 we had to show our work to get partial credit. I had a very hard time on day three. The question that stumped me was an area question. I thought it was confusing because it had a number on the shape that you did not even have to add into your final area. The other question that stumped me was dividing in equal numbers. After the state test I felt proud of myself. I felt proud because I reviewed what I learned in 3rd grade in math.

As a reward we got extra recess!

One Plastic Bag and Ted talk reflection

One Plastic Bag

By Miranda Paul

“People thought I was too young and women couldn’t be leaders. I took these challenges; they gave me more power. I didn’t call out the problems-I called out solutions.” -Isatou Ceesay

One Plastic bag By Miranda Paul is Mostly about how Isatou Ceesay and the Recycling Women of Gambia made Gambia plastic bag free. My favorite part is when Isatou Ceesay and the Recycling Women of Gambia made plastic purses..  This book reminded me of the Green club trying to do the same thing to ban plastic bags. I think what Isatou Ceesay and the Recycling Women of Gambia did is very cool because they took old filthy bags and made the into a beautiful purse. The book One Plastic Bag inspired me to not throw plastic bags on the floor and reuse them to make something beautiful.

TED Talk

The girls TED talk is mostly about how Melati Wijsen and Isabel Wijsen saved Bali from plastic garbage. My favorite part was when they went on a food strike that they would not eat until the mayor would meet to stop plastic bags in Bali. This book reminded me of the book One Plastic bag by Miranda Paul. I liked how they did this because plastic bags are ruining the earth. This horrible object kills animals. What Melati Wijsen and Isabel Wijsen did I thought was very cool because they made a team and did work on the environment and I liked that. The TED talk inspired me to be whoever I want to be even based on my age. Melati Wijsen and Isabel Wijsen inspired me if I see a problem, fix it , don’t  let it go.

Poetry reflection

I just finished the poetry unit and the experience was very good. I really enjoyed it.  The poem I picked for the bulletin board is called Music. What inspired me to write this poem was music. I find myself dancing, singing and playing instruments every day. I like music because you have no limits in what you do. I like music because the sound brings me joy. My favorite dance is ballet (even if I do not actually take classes I dance at home). My favorite instrument is a guitar because I feel like it is a beautiful string instrument and it makes such a beautiful sound. My favorite song is “How far I’ll go.” Here is my poem Music.

Music

By Rocio

Music is a beautiful thing

With the different songs we can sing

The different music we can like

The different kind of dances we can dance like

Hip hop, ballet and tango

The different instruments we can play

Like cello drum and clarinet

The different songs you can write

Will sound like dynamite

When you try to sing it will be a beautiful thing

When you try to dance you will feel unstoppable
