Rube Goldberg #7: Final Reflection

Hello and Welcome to Rocio’s World. Today we’re going to talk about my final reflection, for Rube Goldberg.

I think Rube Goldberg was very challenging, and had lots of steps. Some steps were fun and exciting, but some were frustrating and hard.

One of the steps that challenged me the most was finding the simple task, me and my group should complete. This took us a very long time. I also think maybe this took such a long time because we were indecisive. We wanted our task to be perfect, but it also not too hard. We also couldn’t come up with ideas.

Another step that challenged me was the testing. The testing was also fun, but also challenging. The first few try’s I wasn’t tired, or frustrated. I thought it was going to work quickly… That wasn’t the case. I didn’t know what I could do, to help it work. You would test it one time, and it wouldn’t work. After the marble run, the marble would hit dominoes. The dominoes were in a circle. Even when we were walking around the room they would fall. This was very frustrating because you didn’t even touch them, and they would fall. It was also very hard to put them up, which made it even harder.  After 30 try’s we decided to change the marble run and the dvd, because it was just not working. I think this saved our lives. We also changed the dominoes from being in a circle, to a line. This also saved our lives. From the testing process, I have learned that even when thing get very hard, and frustrating, you should never give up.

Rube Goldberg #6: Testing the Machine

Hello and welcome to Rocio’s world.  Today we’re going to talk about testing my Rube Goldberg.

When me and my group got to testing we were glad, but also very tired. When we did our first try it worked better than we thought, because it was our first try. The marble run worked, then it hit the dominoes, the ball went down the ramp and hit 2 of the jenga pieces.  I found that their was a certain marble that only worked. The plastic ones we had, did not have enough force to push the dominoes down. After try 1, the next 29 try’s only got through the marble run and hit the dominoes. This made us very fusturated and annoyed. With the slightest movement, the dominoes would fall.  This got very frustrating. We didn’t even touch the table, and they would fall. It was also very hard to get the dominoes back up. We put the dominoes in a circle, which I think was also part of the problem. We tried with the marble run till’ try 30.

After we realized that the marble run dosen’t work. We changed the marble run, to a car. One of us would push the car into the dominoes. We thought this was a better idea because the car would definetly have enough force, to push the dominoes down. This made our lives so much easier. I realized that the dvd, was not going to work. I told Mia and Samara and we decided to change it to a half full, uno box. When we put that part up we had to make sure it was lined up, so the uno would hit the ball and make it go down. When we got to try 42 it almost worked. The whole machine worked it just didn’t pop the balloon. After that we realized that the needle needed to be very stiff, so it would definetly pop the balloon. We also made the balloon so blown up, it would pop at the slightest touch of the needle. We got very tired and frusturated. I kept wondering why it wasn’t working? What had we done wrong, in the process of building? Why couldn’t it work? I also thought. On try 87 we realized that the jenga pieces and the dominoes, should switch places. I thought this because the dominoes, would always have a problem pushing the ball, down the ramp. I also thought this because if you put more dominoes, their is more force (what we needed to knock down the dvd.), if u did this with the jenga pieces, it wouldn’t work.

After 88 try’s, we did it!!
