In class we are using a different app other than tynker to code with! In this level down below it was hard for me because i forgot to make the code take the gem so i had to add a lot more into it. And it was also hard to figure out what “Toggle Switch” Meant.

 

Music video

For my favorite music video I chose a very interesting music video. I like that the character moved into different places. I also liked that the music matched where the character went. I really liked the creativity in the music video. Overall it was a great music video.

About me project

I have just completed my about me project and I am very happy about it. For my characters I used a dog, because I love dogs, a bike, because I love biking, a girl that represents me, and a turkey because I love thanksgiving. For each character I coded them so that when I tap them, they say something that they represent. For example, I coded the dog to say that I love dogs and to bark by tapping it. In conclusion I really enjoyed this project and it was really fun to make.

Computer science is changing everything

My favorite computer in the video is the sequencer. I find it fascinating that it can identify a virus in just one hour. I also think it’s really cool that it can test and get results in one hour. It tests DNA for viruses. I think computer science can change the world by helping to create vaccines for viruses. The person who Spoke about this is named Vida. She talk about the sequencer. Overall computer science is changing everything and making easier for people to do there jobs.

Capstone blog post #3

Our Capstone projects are now coming to an end. I loved Capstone a lot because I got to research and become an expert in the coronavirus. For my Capstone project I chose to make a video to present it. I chose to do a video because I was going to do a Ted Talk at first but I switched because I couldn’t get my drive on the tv.

I enjoyed watching the video at the end the most because that’s when I got to see all of my hard work come together and overall was just really satisfying. During the making of my video I encountered one big problem. The problem was that I had chosen to use wevideo for my video but using wevideo took way too much time to make my video. So I had to switch to adobe spark which was way easier in my opinion because you csn record each slide at a time. I am looking forward to sharing my final project because I want to see how other people react to my hard work.

Overall Capstone has been super fun and im sad that it is coming to an end but I loved it. Im also really happy that I got to experience Capstone.

Capstone blog post #1

Right now in fifth grade we are doing Capstone. For my capstone I am doing the Coronavirus. I know, I know, that is a big topic but we’ve been taught to narrow our idea down to our main inquiry question. Since I’m doing coronavirus I decided to narrow it down just to how it impacts the rest of the body.

I’ve had a lot of helpful things to help me decide my main inquiry question, but what really helped me decide was that I was always interested in anatomy and how it works. And I was also interested in diseases. So I put those two together and it gave me my main inquiry question.

Choosing my main inquiry question was challenging because I was interested in all about the coronavirus but I had to narrow it down to one. At that point I was trying to choose between how coronavirus impacts the body. And what were some long term effects from the coronavirus. But I chose the first one because I felt I could find more research on it.

So far I have learned that I don’t have to do tons and tons of research on topics when I could just narrow it down to something I am more interested in. For example if you chose leopards because you were interested in their habitat, then you wouldn’t have to do tons of research about everything about the leopard, when you can simply just narrow it down to their habitats.

My process in coming up with my sub-questions was first thinking about, What is the Coronavirus? I chose that for my first sub-question because before I get into what the effects are on the body I want to just tell everybody what the coronavirus is. I came up with the rest of my sub-questions by thinking about what is related to the main inquiry question. Overall I think this Capstone experience is amazing so far and I am so excited to keep researching more about this topic!

 

False Fire Alarm

Screaming. Running. It was late September when a fire alarm went off at 8:30 AM everyone was so confused, Some were screaming, and lots were running. “Everyone stay calm and get in line!” yelled the teachers. But no one listened. Instead, kids formed groups and talked about what was happening. Some said they smelled smoke,  And some thought it was a drill. But then everyone sirens then the sirens stopped. The firefighters inspected the building and the loudspeaker went on, It said: “You may now enter the building.” Everyone entered the building and it was like nothing happened.

Touch Down!

It was lunch recess at Heathcote Elementary in early November when Sydney and some fifth-grade kids were in the middle of a football game. All of the kids looked so competitive. “HIKE!” one of the fifth-grade boys yelled. The ball flew across the field to another boy “PASS!” Sydney yelled but no one did. The player got tagged with the ball in his hands “Give me a turn with the ball!” yelled Sydney. “ If you were open I would.” moaned one of the players. “HIKE!” yelled one of the players. This time Sydney was open, and the player passed to her, she ran down the field with the ball in her hands. “TOUCH DOWN!!!!” Everyone yelled. Everyone was so happy for her. The player who didn’t pass to her said: “Wow that was amazing!”

Rocketry Blog Post #4

It’s finally here, the second rocket launch I’m so exited to see how our rocket is going to do, I have a feeling it will do better than the second rocket. We pumped up the rocket.” RECORDERS ARE YOU READY? CLINOMETER READERS ARE YOU READY?” My teacher yelled. This is going to be awesome. “10, 9 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!” “WOW!” I yelled looking up at the sky with excitement. The rocket landed and everyone was cheering. From what I saw I knew this rocket didn’t go s high as my first rocket but I was still happy with it.

We got our second rockets score and it was okay, it was 50.5, and our average in feet was 165.6824. It definitely did not go as high as our last rocket which I wished it did but it didn’t. But over all I thought it was so much fun going through the process of making our rockets one and two,. It was the best experience so far in 5th grade and working with a group of people I didn’t really work with yet was really awesome. I loved rocketry.
