An Introduction to Life for Children living on Alcatraz

Hi,

Recently I have been studying what life was like for children living on Alcatraz and there is a lot of interesting facts that I did not know. I didn’t even know that children lived on Alcatraz until I read the Al Capone Does My……. series by Gennifer Choldenko. If you want to know more about this series than click here.

If you do not know what Alcatraz is then I will tell you. Alcatraz was a prison just off the coast of San Francisco Bay and the prison hosted some of the worst prisoners in the world, such as Al Capone, Machine Gun Kelly and Robert Stroud. The island was once a army base from 1907-1933 and then was turned into a prison in 1934 and lasted until 1963.

I look forward to blogging more about this topic.

New York Jets vs Carolina Panthers

Just recently in November my dad brother and I all went to a Jets game against the Panthers. It was a surprise for my brother and I we didn’t know until we saw MetLife stadium. We got their two hours before the game to see the tailgaiters and have a look around the stadium and also watch the players warm up. Our seats were extremely close to the end zone so we could clearly see the touchdowns in front of us, but it was hard to see the plays on the other side of the field. In the game we were rooting for the Jets even though they lost. It was an extremely close game, but the Panthers did end out beating them with a last minute punt return touchdown. One of the plays was clearly a catch and a touchdown for the Jets, but it was over ruled as a incomplete catch that was what lost the game for the Jets. The highlights of the game for me was when Robby Anderson caught a ball one handed while guarded by three people, another one was seeing Cam Newton (the Panthers quarterback) flip over the three defenders for a two point conversion, just seeing Cam Newton would be good enough for me. I hope that the Jets do good this season and I get to see another game. Comment what NFL team you root for.

This is a picture of Cam Newton flipping into the end zone.

Emigration from Brazil

Reasons that people left Brazil was that they wanted jobs, so this meant that the Brazilians did not get paid and this affected their family, without money they left to go to America to and find any job.

Buddy Artwork

This is a picture of my buddies art work. I really like what he made because it is unique and creative, I know that his pieces are always very colorful as well which made it better. I know that my buddy worked hard and stayed positive while making this piece. Even though he received help it is still a very good piece. I am looking forward to seeing what he makes and how he improves in the future.

Henry and Molly spent a total of five days making this, I think that spending that amount of time on a piece of art is automatically a good piece no matter what.

My Buddy

In all of our years at my elementary school we have Buddies. Now we have Kindergarten buddies. My buddies name is Henry. In our first buddy session when I met Henry, he found America on the globe and kissed it, I knew that we were going to have a good time, and I knew he was very cute. One of the things I like about him is that he is always smiling no matter what. An inspiring thing about Henry is that he doesn’t give up and he works very hard. I know that our friendship will grow over this year. I am excited to see how he changes and grows as a student because he is already a good student.

Emigration- Puerto Rico

Here are some of the reasons that people leave Puerto Rico

Most of the people today are leaving Puerto Rico because of the hurricanes that have hit and caused a lot of damage to the land and the people. The hurricanes have injured and killed citizens. Another reason that Puerto Ricans left their country is because they wanted to get a better life, they wanted money, opportunity homes and a better future for their kids.

Future Blogging

I haven’t include this in any of my other posts but in the near future I will be blogging about sports. More specifically, football and my favorite team, the New York Jets, and my favorite basket ball team, the Golden State Warriors. My favorite player on the Warriors is obviously Stephen Curry because of how well he can shoot threes. My favorite Jets player is the rookie receiver Robby Anderson (at a Jets game I saw him catch a 47 yard TD triple guarded, I’ll make a separate post about that.) I will be blogging about my football team, the Raiders soon and also my basketball team the Sharks.

Stay active to see my next post.
