Passion project post #2

For my passion project, I will make an advertisement video, and an essay to go with it. I want to learn this because, when I think things are important, I would like my voice to be heard. So when Mr. Turner told us that we will be doing passion projects I immediately thought marketing, but over time, I switched it to marketing and advertising. I will watch videos on marketing and advertising and even advertisement videos, and ill read articles on my topic. If successful, I would have an advertisement and marketing video and a 2 – 5 paragraph essay on an imaginary product.

Tech Blog Post #8 (final)

Overall, Technology has taught me some really important skills but at the same time having fun, this experience was great.

Cooper, period 7 has made so much great things within the 1st quarter.

1. Soldered keychains.

2. Light switches.

3. Flashlights.

4. Lazer-cutter pieces.

when making all of these, I worked hard. These projects taught me more about determination, working hard to build something, and so much more. This quarter will end soon and I will go out having all these new skills.

Tech Blog Post #7

I am starting a blog post about the laser-cutter woodwork project even though we have not completely finished the unit. This project uses Vectornator, a drawing app, we would sketch out what we want lazer cut in wood.

I had printed a smiley face and a ribbon with my name on it. I had drew the smiley face and the ribbon was pre-set. Once it was  done,I colored the smiley face in with paint markers. So far, I am having so much fun with this from etc and I can’t wait to make more.

As promised, I will tell you more about the flashlight. It was a great experience and I am so happy I’ve done it.

The whole class started off with a sketch of what they wanted it to look like, including length and width. In the sketch, we had to include all the PVC pipes and the pieces that I had chosen. The pieces that I chose had to fit in with each other like a puzzle. Next, once I was done with that, I started getting the pieces/ PVC pipes that looked like the ones that I drew out, the pipes came in all different sizes so I sawed the pipes to the measurement I had drawn in my sketch and made sure all the pieces fit together. As Mr. Calvert gave more demonstrations, the more I understood. We used a giant drill presto put different size holes in the PVC pipes. 1. A hole to put the switch trough. 2. Another hole to put the actual light through. Finally, the last and longest, hardest step. I got wires, cut them to the right measurements, and stripped the tops of them, then curling the stripped part of the wire. I attached then soldered them all. 1. One to the light, 2. Another one to the battery, 3. The last one to the switch. They’re all connected, now its time to put all of that inside the flashlight, putting it into the right place. It had turned on first try.

About two weeks ago, I started making a flashlight. The object of the project was to make a flashlight out os PVC pipes, wires, and more.

Mr Calvert gave us demonstrations and feedback on all the steps one by one, day by day. Overall, this project was so fun and stay tuned for another blog post on this subject.

Tech Blog Post #4

This past week and a half, Ive made three light switches, and a keychain, which I soldered. At first I was nervous to solder metal together, but I was prepared with instructions and I done all of the thing that I needed to do, which includes: drew out the designs that I might do, pick only one that I liked, put all the metal together and there I was, about to solder. Mr. Calvert instructed the group with how to solder and the safety precautions to think about while soldering. Then I soldered the metal all together and painted it.

When I did my switches, I was really excited, but I didn’t have any ideas yet. So I thought long and hard tarted my project with tinfoil, popsicle sticks, cardboard, and more. Finally I was done, I had tested to see if it worked, (It did) then I submitted it to Schoology!

Today we learned about electrons. An electron is a negatively charged subatomic particle. It can be either free (not attached to any atom), or bound to the nucleus of an atom. Electrons can provide light. When the light is turned on, they go through wires to get to the place they want to go. Little do the electrons know they are about to go into the lightbulb and provide light. But when the light switch is turned off, the process discontinues  when liquid gets in the process, it messes the whole thing up, because the electrons go into the liquid and messes up the process.

Tech Blog Post #2 (Atoms)

Today in technology we learned about atoms. We had started learning about atoms a few classes ago. I learned everything is made of atoms, and you are never touching anything because atoms never touch each other (no matter how much you try to force it.) Atoms are incredibly tiny so I bet you couldn’t see one it you tried! In the center of the atom there is something called the nucleus, the nucleus is made up of two things, neutrons (neutral) and protons (positive +) and it is surrounded by electrons (negative -). Molecules are composed of atoms.

Today in Technology we learned how to use blogs. It was a good description and it helped me a lot with my blog. I have to write a lot more blogs like this open so stay tuned. I am Really looking forward to this year because it is my first year of middle school and I’m excited to learn new things. Technology seems really fun and I can’t wait to learn how to use all the equipment and learn all about technology!
