My Feature Article Journey

“Is everyone happy with their partner and their subject?” My teacher asks. “Yes!” We reply, eager to start. I was really excited to start the new unit. Feature articles! We got a partner and a subject that we would be working with for the entire unit. I got a great partner and my subject was the school nurse. Me and my partner decided to focus on why school nurses are important. It took a lot of editing and revising, but after a while, we had our entire article written on a google slide. After finishing the article, we started podcasts, the podcasts we did without a partner. We had to make a WeVideo without the actual video part. This means we had to make the WeVideo an audio only clip. In the clip, we read our feature article. It was a long and hard process because since everyone was recording at the same time, we had to keep redoing our recordings. Once I was finally happy with my recording, I had to name my WeVideo. I had to use a special name so that we can put my recording on the school website. This was very exciting to me, everyone at my school could listen to my podcast! Now that the unit is pretty much over, I know that this was definitely one of my favorites. Making a feature article was really hard, but it was worth it.

Only One You – Book Review

Everything is done for a reason

This book reminds me of the song “Heal the World”. It makes me think about how people should treat the world in a better way and make it look nicer than it was when you found it.

Make the world better than before

Enjoy your world and what you have for as long as you can. The advice that this book gives you could have been helpful whenever I was learning something new.

Be kind to what your given

I also thought this book said that you should do what you believe in and what you think is right.

Don’t let anybody say you can’t

Technology is…

Technology is something that is a new version of what it used to be and solves a problem/help someone. Technology is also something that is man/women made.

A magnifying glass is technology because it helps people. The problem it solves is when a scientist needs to things closely they can. A magnifying glass makes life better by helping scientist. They use magnifying glass’s when they are studying chemicals,bugs/insects ect. A magnifying glass improved on big and heavy microscopes that scientist used to have to use. Microscopes are very big and annoying to use compared to a small and easy to use magnifying glass.

A magnifying glass is an example of technology.

Expert Book

In a minute you will be reading my expert book about the Burj Kalifa. The reason I chose this topic is because I went to Dubai and while I was there I went into the Burj Khalifa. You’re probably wondering what in the world is the Burj Khalifa! Well it’s the tallest building in the world! So I chose to tell you about it.

It was hard work making this project. I had to think a lot about what I wanted to tell people about, and this is what I chose. After I found my idea I went straight to thinking about the chapters for my book. Then I had to write them. After that I had to think about my introduction. When I finished writing my introduction I was off to the lab making slides. I added text features meaning images, timelines, diagrams and more!

My favorite part was probably the images because I thought it was so fun getting to find all these amazing pictures that I never knew were on the internet! The hardest part was definitely thinking about what to talk about and explaining things in my book.

Now that I have told you about all my book I hope you’re excited to read it!

The History of Typography

During our class time in the computer lab, Mr. Casal showed us a video about the history of typography. After watching this video I realized that there were WAY more fonts for writing than I thought there were. These are just some of them… Italics, Caslon, Sans Sarifs, Egyptian, Futura, Gill Sans, Helvetica, Pixel Type, Roman Type, Roman, Black Letter and Comic Sans. I liked the style of the video because it was like Ben Berrett-forrest was typing in different fonts and it made me feel like he was moving very fast. Ben also was telling us that certain fonts meant things. Like for example.. old style, traditional and modern.

When I thought about fonts this is all I thought about… cursive, print, fat letters, thin letters, big letters and small letters. What I didn’t realize was that I was missing out on all of the other fonts!

Here is the video we watched:
