My group and I made a maglev train. For the track we used strip magnets, those are magnets that are like tape. For the train car, we used disc magnets. We faced the strip magnets with the south side facing up and we faced the disc magnets with south side facing down. That caused it to repel. We placed 4 of the disc magnets in the corners of the train car to balance it. We placed two long strip magnets on the edges of the track.
The hardest part was balancing the train car. At first it was attracting because it wasn’t balanced that carefully. Once it was balanced, we added weight with a cup and marbles. Our train held 73 marbles in total. And it was still able to levitate! We felt like we accomplished a big task!
