San Diego Zoo Virtual Field Trip- Real Life Math

These are word problems I came up with for my virtual field trip to the San Diego Zoo. I hope you have fun trying to solve them!

  1. There were 3 toucans in one exhibit. If there were 8 exhibits with an equal amount of toucans, how many toucans would there be in total?
  2. There are 2 polar bears and 2 birds in each exhibit. If each pair of animals had 2 children each how many total animals would be in the exhibit?

Ruby the Copycat Essay

In the book “Ruby the Copycat “ by Peggy Rathmann, Ruby is a copycat because she is new and feels like she doesn’t belong but in the end Miss Hart helps Ruby change.

On her first day, Ruby saw that Angela was getting compliments and copied Angela’s clothes and her bow. This shows that Ruby wants to fit in and get compliments.

At the end of the week, Ruby copied Angela’s work too. For example, she made a poem that was similar to Angela’s poem. This shows that Ruby is copying everything that Angela does.

In conclusion, Ruby is a copycat because she is new and scared. In the end Miss Hart helps Ruby understand that people will like you more if you are yourself and not someone else. Then Ruby is proud of who she is.

What my buddy learned

I taught my buddy what chrome music lab is and how to use it.

When I walked into the room, my buddy smiled when she saw me and when I sat down next to her she saw my iPad and stared at it. Then Mrs. Boyer said “today your buddy’s are going to show you how to use chrome music lab.”

I showed my buddy one game and then she got her iPad. On my buddy’s iPad I showed her other games.

After that my buddy pretty much knew all the games so she played  with them on her iPad and I played with them on mine.
