Capstone Post #3 – My Interview

Hello and welcome back to the Scarlett Sentinel. Today I am going to talk about my interview for capstone. So one part of capstone is getting an interview and site visit. on Monday, May 20, 2019 I had my interview with doctor Eric Strauss, MD at NYU Langone Sports Medicine Center.

I had never actually interviewed someone before so it was a little weird for me. Dr. Strauss told me to come in early so I can see some patients with him. This was a mini sight visit, but I am still having another one later. (Even though I was seeing patients with him for about an hour and a half.) But when I was seeing patients with him, I was just observing. I saw a few X-Rays and MRI’s. (magnetic resonance imaging) I also saw a replika of the knee and learned about the different injuries and what its like to be a sports doctor.

After I saw patients with Dr. Strauss, I got to interview him. I asked him many questions such as some of my sub questions. I also asked him other stuff like: How has sports medicine changed over time to make it better? And how has technology made an effect on taking care of an injured athlete? I also asked some comparison questions such as: how is taking care of a female athlete different than taking care of a male athlete? And how is taking care of a youth athlete different than taking care of an adult athlete?

I got a lot of good answers that will help answer my main inquiry question and my sub questions. I learned a lot from this interview and Dr. Strauss was very nice!
