WEEK AT A GLANCE
Dear Colleagues,
With the full moon present during the daytime and also at night, what a week it’s been! In spite of the Noreaster in the forecast, let’s look forward to the weekend as a time to rest and regroup. Enjoy!
Warmly,
Sharon

Superintendent’s Conference Day
You are invited to join Michelle Lian and Jeremy Guski as leaders of the STI Course described below. Sign up in MLP if you are interested.
Dates: 11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 11/29, 12/13, 12/20, 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/31, 2/7, 2/14
Participants in this course will reflect on current teaching practices, and use a variety of tools to strengthen and develop their methods of instruction. Teachers will work closely using both The Reading Strategies Book and The Writing Strategies Book, Jen Serravallo’s collection of the most effective strategies to share with readers and writers. This course will help teachers develop individual goals for every reader and writer. Additionally, this course will dive into Cathy Fosnot’s Context for Learning and help teachers develop their questioning and reasoning skills, which in turn will allow for more rich mathematical conversations and lessons.
Course coordinators will present texts that support a genre and strategy and show teachers how to adjust instruction to meet individual needs. Suggestions for stocking your literacy and math centers, planning units of study, planning math routines, celebrating student reading, celebrating mathematical conjectures, and creating powerful exit tickets will also be discussed.
