Dear Colleagues,

Happy Holidays!  As we leave for the holiday break, I wish everyone a joyous time off with your precious families. Melt in each others’ hugs and embraces. Eat, drink and be merry! Make memories to be treasured in years to come.

Best wishes for health, goodness, peace, happiness and prosperity in the New Year.

Love to all,

Sharon

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Staff News: As you know, Agetina planned on returning from her leave in January. I am writing to let you know she will be extending her leave through June and is planning on returning in the fall. We look forward to Agetina’s return, but in the meantime, we are fortunate that Mitch will continue as our Interim School Psychologist.  Shelby will be on maternity leave beginning in March and is expected to return in June. We are in the process of finding a leave replacement and will update you when the process is finalized. Stephanie Cambareri, (BOCES intern) will be moving on to her next placement in another school district. We wish Stephanie well in her future studies.  Lori will be continuing her internship at Greenacres. Congratulations to Rachel Lehrer who has completed her student teaching in Mindy’s class. Rachel will be transitioning as a substitute teacher and is available for sub assignments.
  • The Math presentation this past Tuesday was well received by parents. Shoshana and Liz joined Nancy to share some of the work they have been doing with their students.  This helped to concretize some of the approaches that help students develop their mathematical understandings. Parents had many thoughtful questions and comments about ways in which they may help their children and begin to make shifts in their thinking about what is important in the teaching and learning of mathematics.
  • When we return, we will be scheduling a date for a representative from the Food Bank for Westchester to join us in an assembly to share the importance of participating in the upcoming January food drive.   Stay tuned for more information.
  • We have been getting great feedback from the participation of students in our announcements on Wellness Wednesday. The box is currently empty. Please encourage your students to share ideas and to volunteer for participating. They are often nervous and after a little coaching, they embrace the task and leave the office with such pride.  It’s a beautiful thing!
