Dear Colleagues,

What a special treat it was to have the performance this morning by artists from the New York Chinese Cultural Center!  Hearing the expressions of awe from the children made it even more special. Thanks to the Cultural Arts Committee, Helene, Shoshana, Christina, Shelby, Elizabeth, Sharon and parent Xue Su for planning the wonderful events we have had so far this year.  I think it’s quite deserving to say, “Hǎo.”

It’s not too late to say Happy Chinese New Year – Gong hei fat choy!  The festival starts on February 5th and ends on February 19th. It’s the year of the Pig – a symbol of wealth and good fortune.

Have a lovely weekend.

Karin Reetz, our Artist in Residence, will be joining us at our faculty meeting on Monday to discuss ideas for our upcoming bookmaking projects. Please come prepared to make some suggestions for topics or units that you plan to connect with the bookmaking projects.  Hearing your topics will help Karin connect your ideas with possible book designs.

Mike Spedaliere, Chief of Safety Security and Emergency Management, will also be joining us to clarify and update us on emergency protocols as well as answer your questions.

Eric Rauschenbach has prepared the district’s Response To Intervention Plan (RTI) which is chock full of information.  At our meeting on Monday, we will take the time to review pages 5-8  of Section 2 which discusses RTI and the implementation of Tier 1.  Please take a few minutes to review those pages before our discussion on Monday.
