WEEK AT A GLANCE
Dear Colleagues,
Our Earth Day Assembly could not have been more thoughtfully crafted by our amazing Green Team. It was a perfect medley of messaging, entertainment and call to action. The message was very student-centered with the potential for making a lasting impact on the children’s outlook on bees and flowers and the importance of nurturing and cultivating both in our environment. Thanks to Paula, Lindsey, Jeremy, Deb, Nick, Francesca, Elizabeth, Lynne and Sharon for the role each played in collaborating on what was a spectacular Earth Day Program. Thanks also to our PTA for picking up the cost of the wildflower seeds. Already there are posts on the blog. It will be even more amazing once the blooms begin. In the meantime, happy sowing!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Sharon
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Senior Options: With the beginning of Senior Options on Thursday, we will be welcoming High School seniors who have arranged to do their Senior Options at Greenacres. Their start date coincides with day 2 of the State Math test so the day will start out a little different than usual.
They will be required to attend an orientation meeting at 9:15 a.m. Students who have been assigned to Grades K-2 will be sent to their classrooms after the orientation. Students assigned to Grades 3-5 will be scheduled as monitors in the hallways. At the end of the testing period, they will be asked to go to their assigned teachers. They will be given “Scarsdale Schools” lanyards to be worn while they are in the building. Be sure to say hello as you see them going to and fro in the building.
State Math Test: Assigned proctors and designated spaces used for the ELA will remain the same for the Math test. Please be sure to follow all instructions Sharon has shared with you.
Class Placement: This year parents were asked to complete a form online sharing any relevant information for class placements. I have reviewed the information and will be making notations on the grade level class placement spreadsheets so that we have that information as we make preliminary decisions about where students are placed. Lynne is currently working on revising the spreadsheet in order to enhance its utility. Lynne will be sharing the document with you for feedback to make sure it captures all the necessary elements to inform our process. Please be sure to take a look and promptly provide the feedback requested when the document is shared with you. We hope to have the final version ready for your input by Wednesday. Please accept the calendar invitations for Class Placements sent to each grade level earlier today.
