 WEEK AT A GLANCE

Inspirational Quotes Life Struggles Paulo Coelho

Dear Colleagues,

I would like to thank Collette, Joan and Liz for what I heard was a very enlightening and engaging presentation of the BLG. It is an amazing document which will be an exemplary model upon its completion. Thanks also to Michelle for coming to GA to support the presentation. I know this will be a living document and teachers across the district will be making ongoing contributions to keep it current and practical. In preparation for upcoming goal-setting meetings, you should feel free to peruse the document to familiarize yourself with it, determine areas you would like to work on and to certainly see it as a resource you can turn to on a regular basis.

Congratulations on what I understand was another wonderful Open House, an important marker that announces the year is really on its way. Thanks for all your efforts at putting together your presentations.

Have a wonderful week!

Sharon

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Construction Meeting – There will be a construction meeting on Friday, September 20th from 12:10 to 1:10 p.m. John Trenholm, Stuart Mattey and Francesco Borghese (Project Manager) will be present to provide an update and answer your questions.

Safety:  In light of the renovations and the many elevated storage areas in classrooms, a proper stepladder must be used at all times when reaching for materials. Chairs, desks, trash cans, etc. are never to be used as stepladders for any reason. Step ladders in use should be in good condition meeting all safety regulations. Please reach out to the custodial staff if you are in need of a ladder or you may ask a member of the custodial to do the reaching for you.  I asked Sharon and Resa to do a survey of the need for step ladders in classrooms.  I have provided John Trenholm with the results and have requested step ladders. As soon as they are received, they will be distributed accordingly. In the meantime, practice safety at all times.

One of the recommendations Mike Spedeliere made as a result of the last fire drill was that all rooms/spaces with multiple doors should be locked to ensure the safety of those in the rooms and in the adjoining spaces. Please be sure to comply with this recommendation.

Yoga with Corey begins on Monday, September 16th – please check the Sign up for dates and times.

Clogged Pipes: No wipes, even “flushable” should be flushed as they  have cloggged the pipes. Please also have conversations with your students about their responsibility for the appropriate use of the bathrooms. Here are some salient points:

  • Use paper adequately not excessively – excessive use of paper leads to clogs.
  • Leave the bathroom as it was found or better.
  • Report any issues that are out of order.
  • Use bathrooms to take care of bodily needs – playing and any form of mischief or vandalism will not be tolerated.

Goal Setting Meetings: More information to come. Begin to think about your goals and ways in which we can support you.

Classroom Quotes: I can’t wait to see your quotes!

Walltalkers: We are taking your concerns about the low magnetic pull of the walltalkers. The problem is being investigated and as soon as a plan has been devised you will be informed.
