Immigration #1

For immigration I needed to find a person to interview. I didn’t have anyone in mind. But my dad told me my neighbor immigrated. So I had my person set until, my mom told my grandma that she could do it. My mom did not know I was going to do someone else. That caused a problem because I already said I was doing my neighbor David. So my solution is, I will interview both of them but whoever has the better answers I would do. David came from Israel at least my dad thinks and my grandma came from china. I haven’t interviewed any of them but I would think to do it soon.

I also had to make questions. Which I thought was really easy. So I did it with some questions from the packet. Some of my questions were really basic. Some weren’t. The questions didn’t take me that long. I made 15 questions in case they couldn’t answer some of them. The questions were open ended not Yes or No. These are my questions I will ask:

  • Why did you leave your country?
  • How old were you when you left?
  • What were your feelings when you left?
  • What had you heard about America before you came? What expectations did you have?
  • What was life like in your homeland?
  • Was it hard leaving or exciting? What made it so
  • Where did you arrive at the U.S?
  • What were your feelings when you arrived?
  • Was it difficult to communicate when you first came?
  • What was the hardest thing you had to face when you first came to america? Why?
  • What surprised you the most about the us?
  • In what ways is the U.S similar or different than you expected?
  • Did you consider living anywhere? Else if so where?
  • If you had not immigrated, what do you think your life would be like today?

These were the things I went through in the beginning stages of the immigration project. Hope you enjoyed!
