So for this week, after I had finished my crank project, we started to learn about atoms. I’ve learned a bit about them from videos, they were confusing and a bit hard to understand, really. We did do a short little example, the one with balloons, I noticed if we put the balloons to the cloth, it picks up these red circles, and when we put the ballon to the wall, the blue circles there tried to get away from the ballon. Why is that? I also noticed when I did that, the red circles stayed the same, I’m confused.

Blog Post 6: Cranks
I’ve noticed that this crank that I built is like the cams we did the week before, the base is the same, but I’ve noticed that I’m getting better at cutting the shapes and giving enough weight onto my hand. It feels much easier than before, and I’m really glad about that. Although glueing was a bit hard, I always put a little bit too much glue… so I had to wait a long time for it to dry, even though I did other parts, I still got my hands a bit too sticky. Some parts are a bit bendy, they look like they’ve been squished a lot. Otherwise though, it’s an improvement from the cams.
Blog Post 5: Cams
So for this weeks projects, I feel like I’m really really bad at cutting the paper templates, the paper kept on ripping and I feel so frustrated with this project. Although we have a lot of these templates I’m feeling a bit good about the projects after this Cam, this one was especially difficult for me because when I usually do art, I do the tradition kind. Where you draw on paper or canvas, putting enough weight on my hand used to be easy, now I feel like my hand is veryyyy sore. I already made a few mistakes with which way I fold the paper. I reaallly hope the next few projects will be easier.
Blog 4: Catapults
For this project, we made catapult! I first wanted and tried the more complicated one. Fail. I got too frustrated and went for the other easier catapult, that one at first, the one of the popsicles broke, after replacing that one, it started to work well! I couldn’t think of an original game, so I didn’t make one. After my brother discovered what I made, he tried to catapult my dad, and failed miserably. It was funny though, after he failed, he tried to do it multiple times before I could stop him. I didn’t want to waste more popsicle sticks so, my mom scolded him
Blog 3: Beams
For this project, I was a little confused at first, but I got the hang of it. First mistake, when I watched to explanation video, I thought I was doing good. Then, I saw a mistake, wow it took me a long time to notice that I actually did it right, I actually almost made another beam. It took a while, but I finally made both beams work, finally I recorded my video. For some reason, I was recorded upside down, and my voice sounded TERRIBLE. It was fun, I do hope that we do more of these types of projects.
Blog 2: Metals
We have started to learn all about why some terrible accidents have happened, like the Titanic, it sank because its hull was made using mild steel. I’m still confused though, what metal is flexible? How do you make sure that what you’ve made will work? I hope I can understand all of this, because I’m sure we are going to need this later on for big projects.
Blog 1: New Quarterly
My new quarterly is tech, I’ve heard that we do a lot of crafting, I am a really artistic person, so I hope I will enjoy this class. I also heard we are going to make robotic like things, and something that requires science. Which I’m very exited for, I’m not sure what we are going exactly, but I just hope I don’t get too stressed about it. Although robotic stuff is already difficult for me to understand anyway.
Writing Swift Code
For my code, I had a problem that I could not solve. Though it was very cool to see what coding could do, first I changed it to, what is your favorite holiday, which I am currently struggling to understand. Then I added it to say “what’s your number?” Then also “what is your favorite color?” I do find this hard but fun to play around with.
Computer Science is Changing Everything
In the video, what I found most interesting was how people used coding to make art. I’ve seen many light shows but I never knew how they were created, I’ve also seen movies that were really realistic but cartoony, and I always wondered how they did that. When I saw that people used math, then used that math do create something beautiful, I was amazed at what people can do when they try to make something amazing. In Finding Nemo, the art had always attracted me because I am an artist, and light shows also make me amazed because of how the colors change, and how they made it look awesome. I really think that technology is important to all of us because of how it helps us, humans could never beat how fast a computer can calculate. It really helps, from transportation, art, and calculating.
