3. “Oregon Forest Law requires us to replant the site within two years and it needs to meet “green-up” standards by six [years]. By state law we are required to leave two live trees standing and two downed trees per acre of clearcut harvest. We are also requried to protect small medium and large fish streams.”

In some states there are laws that require the  timber industry to protect the environment (during the harvest) and replant the land (following the harvest). From an environmental convservation and sustainability perspective, what is your opinion of this? Should the requirements be different?

I believe that laws to protect the environment are very important. Obviously trees are important to the environment. If we removed all the trees it wouldn’t be healthy. Trees have many characteristics that are necessary to sustain wild life. The trees also perform gas exchange.
