Blog #6

In technology I made something called a crank. A crank was like the something as a cam. It was easier because I knew what to expect when making the cam. The crank didn’t take too long. I like using this tiny knife that cups circles. It was really fun to practice.

I just did a trust project. The trust project is when you make a box out of tooth picks and see how many books you can stack. I think it’s called the trust project because you have to trust how many books it can carry, even though it’s not a living this. This was a simple mini projects and a really cool one. Mini projects are fun because they don’t take long to do and it’s simple and easy. Even though it’s simple it’s still awesome. That’s my thought’s on the trust project.

I am working on a I beam. So far it’s really cool. I’m hoping everything else we do in technology is going to be like this. Projects are really fun because you can use your imagination to create. My expectations are going well so far in Technology. I will update on my next post.

Blog Post #1

This is my first blog post and so far I love Technology. My favorite thing that we did so far is the sink of the titanic. This class is my favorite not only cause the subject, but the teacher makes it even better. I hope I continue the quarter like this because it’s so far a fun and great class. I wish that I could take Technology for the rest of the year to find out even more about it. I’m hoping that we learn more about the titanic because I’m really interested in it, but so far the quarter will be great and I will have a great time learning.

Capstone Blog Post #1

Hello, my capstone is The process of Thomas Edison creating the light bulb. I got this idea, because I wondered how hard it was back then to make such a complex thing. I thought this was a perfect capstone idea, because it was going to be interesting and it’s not going to keep me from being bored. There are probably a lot of facts on him and it probably took him a long time to make the light bulb with countless attempts. Wow! I can’t imagine trying to make such a complex to reality. It just blows my mind.

Thomas Edison had to have been talented as a kid, some people would say, but his teacher actually said this to him “to stupid to learn anything.” When he was older he was fired from 2 jobs because he was “non productive.”That didn’t stop Thomas Edison to be determined to make a light bulb.

When I thought about this idea, I wondered, “how did he get this idea? Did he not like lighting candles everyday? Was he tired of wasting so much money on candles and matches? How would I feel if I spent too much money on candles or light candles with matches constantly? Or was it the smell?

In conclusion I thought this research on Thomas Edison was going to be great. I know that my topic is going to be great and fun to do because I like how he was so determined to make the light bulb. Would any other electronic device top the light bulb or not?

A Long Walk to Water

“A long walk to water” was a very emotional book that was based on a true story. What impacted me the most is when the little boy jumped on Sylvia when they were crossing the lake. The boy released because he got shot in the neck. It was really sad because the boy was just trying to live. I would have grabbed on to someone if I was young and couldn’t swim.

It reminds me of when the Nazis took control and shot people. It reminds me of that because people tried to escape like the boy did when they swam across the river. I think the book was a very inspiring book. The message is when it comes to survival, you should help yourself before others.

Spooky Night!

On October 31, the group are walking house to house going to every house that was there. As we got bored of walking, we started to play music as we moved. Winston one of the people from the group says, “When everyone saw the take one, everyone took about 100 pieces of candy.” Sadly one of the people in the group couldn’t nuts and most of the candy given out had peanut butter. To make him feel better the people in the group only ate and received nut-free candy. It started to rain but that didn’t stop anyone. As everyone went home counting their candy, no one came empty-handed!

The Race

It all happened in the middle of October at Saratoga Springs. The rowing team gathered  to compete for number 1! On the day of the race, it started pouring. There were a lot of people under the tents. People were cheering, but it was really hard to actually see who is in each boat. Everyone was excited and cheered for all the teams, even the ones that they were competing against. Hundreds of people went to this event. There were many tents that were set for selling souvenirs, food, clothes and a lot more. Most people were wearing boots and rain jackets because of the weather. It was about 50 degrees F with powerful wind. Everyone was standing up, there were no benches. Everyone got their phones out and started to record the race. The weather was so bad that some of the rowers got hypothermia and had to be taken top the hospital! According to a rower named Dani, one of the teams had to forfeit. Even though the weather ruined the race, the rowers seemed to enjoy it.
