Anwsering My Main Inquiry Question Working on My Final Product #3

Hello, my name is Trevor and I have been working on a capstone. My capstone topic is Tesla. I Researched tesla and then transformed my research into a presentation.

First, I needed to come up with a main inquiry question and  sub-questions, we needed 5 subquestions. Once I had finished My sub-questions I worked on my research. I researched one sub-question at a time I average about 300 words per sub-question, I found a lot of good websites, and my strategy was to copy and paste my sub-question and check out the first thing that comes up. I would scan the entire website to find facts that answer my topic the most and put them in my research. My main inquiry question was what factors have most contributed to Tesla’s success as the company we know it is today? Some of my sub-questions were, the reason is that the appeal of Tesla cars is so strong, and Elon Musk helps design and promote Tesla cars.  I found it hard to find good websites because tesla is growing at a rapid pace and it is hard to find an up to date websites. Tesla was also not that popular for a while and had a recent spike in sales. There were a few websites that helped me a lot. I found it hard to put the words of the website into my own. The sites were phrased perfectly. If I phrased it differently most of the time It would sound unprofessional. My favorite part of researching was being able to explain tesla to my friends because I knew so much about it. I felt like an expert.

Once I had finished answering the main inquiry question I worked on my essay. My essay was in my case very easy because I already had all of the material I was going to transform into my essay on a document. I needed to filter a lot of the information because some of it wasn’t strong or I Had to rewrite sections because they did not make sense. My essay took a while because I had so much good info it was hard to put it into essay form. I managed to have a 1600-word essay. I finished the first draft of my essay that day. Then I took around 2 to3 days to edit my essay when I finished my essay I showed it to my dad. He looked over it then I was officially finished with my essay.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed the project even though the research was tough I really enjoyed it. Now it was time to put my essay into a presentation. It’s been fun But I am excited to have it be done.

Capstone Essay

\How has Tesla improved over the years and

how does the latest Tesla car compare to the first model created?

By Trevor

Have you heard of Tesla or Elon Musk? Tesla has taken the car industry by storm. I am going to explain What factors have most contributed to Tesla’s success as the company we know it is today?  I will discuss the reasons why. The reason is that the appeal of Tesla cars is so strong, and Elon Musk helps design and promote Tesla cars.  Tesla cars keep getting more and more popular, and Tesla has one of the most up-to-date cars in the world.

One factor is that the appeal of Tesla cars is very strong. A lot of people have been recently hearing how bad global warming has gotten. People have wanted to take a stand so many people have gotten a Tesla car because Tesla cars do not run on gas and the leading cause of air pollution is car exhaust. Tesla cars give off no exhaust thus getting a Tesla car would delay global warming.  A new AAA survey finds that 20% of Americans say their next vehicle will be an electric car. In 2017 that was up by 15%. In the US a study shows that 79% of new cars are Tesla cars. A reason why the appeal is getting bigger is that with all these new ways to harness electricity. People aren’t that worried about running out of electricity but are worried about the rising heat from global warming. Another appeal is that the cost of gas is at an all-time high and getting a Tesla car would, in the long run, save you a lot of money. Tesla has built an elite status and is recognized as elite and desirable. Tesla has a lot of features that their cars don’t have such as a touchable screen, an alarm when you get too close to other cars on the road, and a very well-working autopilot. Tesla is one of the most up-to-date cars.  Tesla has grown from the free advertising many influencers are giving them. Social media Influencers own Tesla cars and give away Tesla cars. Tens of millions of people watch those videos and People want to get cars because they have seen Tesla cars on a lot of popular platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, and Youtube. Tesla is the No. 1 most attractive company for engineering students. This gives Tesla a lot of workers they could pick up to boost their efficiency. According to Nathan Stachowski, he was attracted to work at Tesla not  because of the cars but because of the environment.” That concludes that a lot of workers want to work at Tesla because they are worried about the environment and want to make a difference through Tesla. A $1000 investment made in March 2012 would be worth $148,755.87, or a gain of 14,775.59% That is why the appeal of Tesla cars is strong.

A second factor is that Elon Musk has boosted Tesla a lot. Elon Musk has expanded his business profile by owning Tesla (Car industry), SpaceX (Elon Musk’s space engineering company), The Boring Company(a transportation business digging holes in Las Vegas), and Neuralink(A very advanced health company).  He is in the process of purchasing Twitter(A social media website). He founded Paypal in 1999 and later sold it for 180 million dollars. He made an early fortune from PayPal (A way to give money to people)and started to work on Tesla. He has donated 6 billion dollars to Tesla. He is using some of his riches from those other companies and investing it into Tesla and SpaceX. Elon Musk joined Tesla in 2004 and became CEO in 2008. The former CEO and founder were Marc Tarpenning. From 2012 to 2022 Tesla’s stock has improved by 4125%. If you invested 1000 dollars into Tesla in march of 2012 you would have gotten a return of $148,755.87. He has invested a big portion of his riches into Tesla.  Elon Musk leads all of the designs and works on the cars too. Elon Musk is really dedicated to Tesla; he spends 80 to 100 hours working during a workweek. While the average amount of hours people work is 34.4 hours. According to Nathan Stachowski, “He’s always thinking three steps ahead.” Elon Musk has helped design the Tesla cars, his favorite Tesla Car is the Model S. Elon Musk is very very smart. He has an IQ of 155, while Albert Einstein has a 160 IQ. Since 2009, Tesla has produced a total of 1.91 million vehicles. Elon Musk improved the electric car industry because when other car companies saw how well testa’s electric cars were doing they started making electric cars of their own thus improving the electric car industry by getting more brands involved.

A third factor is that Tesla cars keep getting more and more popular. Tesla was founded by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning in 2003. In 2008 Tesla released their first car, the all-electric roadster. In march of 2010 Tesla stock became public. Investors started to become interested in Tesla stock and wanted some for themselves. In 2012 they released the first model of their new Tesla car the Model S. It is known to be one of the cheapest cars for the quality of the car. Tesla right now is starting to get increasingly more popular and starting to make a difference in the car industry and the electric car industry. In September of 2014, the project of making the first gigafactory. The gigafactory is planned to be a giant factory to mass-produce cars. In September of 2015, the Tesla model x was released. The Model X is one of the most luxurious cars. The model x costs $114,990, while it can go up to $138,990 with boosts. In November of 2019, the cybertruck is revealed and Elon Musk accidentally breaks the car’s windows while talking about how strong they are. Tesla is the most popular electric car company in the world. In January of 2020, Tesla will become the most valuable car automaker in the U.S. Tesla is at its all-time high, and Tesla is growing at a rapid pace. SpaceX was founded on March 13, 2002.  Elon Musk founded and used a big portion of SpaceX’s profits and invested them back into Tesla. SpaceX is a rocket organization that right now sends people to space for a buttload of money, while They plan to colonize mars by 2026. To quote Elon Musk the CEO and mastermind behind Tesla “I could either watch it happen or be a part of it.” That shows how Elon Musk is going to improve Tesla cars and not just watch Tesla grow.”

A final factor is because of the up-to-date technology. Tesla cars possess autopilot, a wide touchable screen, and high safety precautions. Nathan Stachowski states that driving with a Tesla autopilot is 10, 15 times safer than human driving. Tesla is constantly working on new ways to improve its software. Tesla invented the supercharger. The supercharger is a way to charge your car. The supercharger gives 250kwh of electricity per hour. That is enough electricity to power air conditioning uninterrupted for 84 hours straight. Elon Musk is trying to put superchargers in as many places as possible. There are 16,103 Superchargers in 1,826 stations worldwide. Elon Musk plans to have a humanless uber system. He would put his autopilot to the test and have people get picked up by cars and drive them to their location. There would be less illegal stuff that happens because someone is not driving them. There have been 1,917,450 Tesla cars bought since 2002. In 2014 Tesla sold 60,000 cars and in 2021 they sold half a million. Tesla chargers can charge other cars. Tesla is not only focused on boosting itself but on making electric cars one of the main saviors of global warming. Tesla has changed the sonar camera from 6ft to 25ft. One of Tesla’s major problems a few years ago was parking on autopilot. 12 people died from the autopilot. They spent a while perfecting their autopilot and now their autopilot is one of the safest autopilot systems. Tesla, born in Silicon Valley, never outsourced their software — they write their own code,” said Morris Cohen, a professor emeritus at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Tesla sold twice the amount of cars in 2020 and 2021. Tesla is different from other car companies because other car companies were closing their factories because they did not have enough materials. While Tesla has an abundance of materials and is making lots of cars and barely closing any factories. Loyalty advisor Nathan Stachowski. Says that Elon Musk’s primary goal is to make Tesla cars very quickly. That is mainly what Elon Musk is investing his money into. The efficiency has gone up in producing Tesla cars. Tesla AI has made it so that when a Tesla car goes on a road Tesla remembers that road. Tesla keeps a memory of all of the streets and roads it has been on and you could use autopilot to drive on that road.

In conclusion, the reason why Tesla became the Tesla we know today is that the appeal of Tesla cars is strong.  The man behind Tesla, Elon Musk has business experience and has promoted Tesla, and Tesla cars keep getting more and more popular. Elon Musk has a bright future and is going to change the world, not only the car industry forever. I hope you have learned more about Tesla and plan to research Tesla.

My Capstone Interview 2#

For capstone, it is required for you to interview someone. I was doing tesla I either ad to find someone who works for tesla or is close with Elon musk.

At first, I had no clue who I should interview. Then I realized, My family has a tesla so I could find out who sold him the tesla and interview them. I called him and he agreed to an interview. I first needed to make a list of questions I would need to ask. I wound up with 12 questions. The date of the interview was going to be on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 4 pm. The process of finding questions was challenging while finding an interviewee was difficult. The questions were hard because I had to make them not too personal but questions I could just lookup. While I scheduled an interview easily.

This interview I thought went really well. I already had some experience conducting an interview from our past projects. I was interviewing Nathan Stachowski a tesla loyalty advisor. He gave very formal answers and this time it felt more like a conversation than an interview. In the last interview I had he just answered questions but this time I knew about tesla and could add to what he was saying and I understood everything he was saying. I really enjoyed this interview.

I thought the whole process of finding an interview and conducting an interview was enjoyable but also a little bit stressful. I am happy to move on to the next step in CapCon.

Regions blog post

A region is part of the US. Our region group consisted of Christian, Anastasia, Devon, and I. We got assigned the northwest region. The northwest region has 5 states Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. We had a list of questions that we needed to schnauzer about every state in our region. every person was assigned a state in the northwest and we spun a wheel to see who got the last state in the region. Our group worked really well together and we answered a lot of the questions pretty fast. We decided to present our info as a website form. We all organized all of our info and put sections and put all of the regions. I chos eto reserach pregon. Once we had all of our info we were ready to present. We were the fourth group to preset. Presenting was a little stressful butI really enjoyed this unit and I learned a lot about the northwest region. in. SO far I really enjoyed this unit and thought that I learned a lot about the northwest region.

Getting Started With Capstone #1

One day Ms. Edwards gave us a project called capstone. Capstone is where you pick a topic and present it, with a movie, ted talk, or an ignite. I chose  Tesla as my topic. I found Tesla interesting because Tesla is very important in the future of the world. So far I really like this unit. I first came up with the idea when my friend asked me. “What are you doing for Capstone,” I picked something random I said Elon Musk, I later narrowed that down to Tesla. Coming up with my main inquiry was really hard. I first had to find possible questions. I spent around an hour figuring out what I should do. I finally came up with “How are the first Tesla Model and the latest tesla model compared physically?” and “Has anything changed in the process of making a Tesla car and why?” So far I really like my topic, and I like the project.

Immigration

Immigration

Our class was assigned to interview an immigrant. I decided to interview my squash coach Mahmoud Yehia. Mahmood Yehia was born in Alexandria Egypt I wasn’t that close with Mahmoud and I was excited to learn more about him.

First I needed to come up with a lot of questions. I checked over them and I found a massive problem with a good portion of my questions, all of them are closed-ended questions. The problem with closed-ended questions is that they are a waste of questions. I had to go over all of my questions and changed all of them. I now had to schedule a time to meet with Mahmoud and interview him.

I talked with Mahmoud and set up a time to interview him. I met him at his squash courts. I asked him about his life, some of my questions were what is your favorite food in America and describe what it was like leaving your family. I learned a lot about Mahmoud. I learned that Mahmoud has a cousin who is a famous singer in Egypt, his show name is Mohamed Mounir. Now that I have all my information I can start the next step of my immigration project. The Next Step of my immigration project is creating a video, that is pretty much a biography of Mahmud Yehia.   in my video I would Say all the answers to my 15 questions to ask and when we met up.

Overall I learned a lot about Mahmoud Yehia, I learned so much about him and I’m really really excited to show him my video.

Rube Goldberg Blog post 2

Rube Goldberg

The Rube Goldberg has been really hard but I was able to prevail. A Rube Goldberg machine is a machine used to do a simple task. I used marbles Keva planks, ramps, couscous boxes, and funnels. I started to take videos of all my attempts and put them all into a Wevideo.

To be able to start building my Rube Goldberg I would need a simple task to complete at the end. To be honest I had no idea what I should do for my task. I was lying in my bed one night when I turned on my light. “Wait,” a light went on in the lamp and above my head. I realized I could just turn on a lamp. I started to make a sketch for my rube Goldberg. I started to build. I do not think I would have been able to build my Rube Goldberg if it was not without my brother Griffin. Griffin helped me build and record. I found so many resources for my Rube Goldberg from the teacher page. I found setting up the dominos definitely the hardest because you need to be very delicate with them.

My starting sketch was really different from the last sketch. I changed almost everything. For instance, I did not use a water bottle to push books into the basket turning on my lamp. Instead, I had a marble go down a ramp and go into a cup that turns on my lamp. I had a lot of quality of life changes, such as making the tunnel longer and the domino line shorter(I spent like 30 minutes setting up the dominos).

I thought the video was easy to do, but collecting all the footage was the hard part. I really enjoy editing and creating videos. Let’s just say I was not that organized with my footage. It was like finding a needle in a haystack. I sometimes had to re-record some of my attempts because I filed them in portrait mode instead of landscape. I spent around a week collecting all my footage. Once I finally had all of my footage I started to slap together and edit my footage. I bleeped out loud noises in the background I added music and might have deleted my we video accidentally… TWICE!!! I accidentally pressed backspace. I wanted my video to be light-hearted and funny. Most importantly I wanted to make my voice sound clear. Whenever I would record a video of me talking about my Rube Goldberg sometimes I would have to re-record it because my voice did not sound clear. The video was really fun to do.

Overall the Rube Goldberg was a really fun project This project stood out from a lot of the other projects that I have done in recent years. The reason it stuck out is that it made me think differently. I usually think of a solution and go with that. Now I realized that I would need to find another solution and look at my rube Goldberg from a different perspective. After reading my conclusion I hope that when you think of a Rube Goldberg you will think of a light bulb turning on in my Rube Goldberg and in real life.

Actual Rube Goldberg

Rube Goldberg Blog Post 1

Rube Goldberg Blog Post

The project Rube Goldberg was assigned to our class. The project was to make a very complex machine do a very simple objective. We needed to build and document our progress. We got assigned this on January 29 and we are going to finish it on March 8tI intended to build to the most complex machine possible.

We were going to build the machine in our house. We had to do a sketch that would act as my blueprint. I found that it was hard to make the sketch. I found it hard because making a drawing of a machine that works is hard. My final sketch included pulleys, inclined planes, and levers. On Tuesday, the eighth of February, I finished my sketch. I took it home every day and worked on it. As I said you would make a very complex machine to do a very simple task. The simple task I wanted to do was turn off a light. One day I was thinking about my rube Goldberg. I was really stressed, I needed to come up with my task, soon. I went to bed thinking about what I should do. I was tired of thinking about it so I got my book and turned on my lamp. “Wait.”I can turn off the light for my rube Goldberg. That was how I got my idea to turn off a lamp. The name of my project is Operation Lampita. I set off all these chain reactions that would make something fall into a basket turning off my lamp. I am really excited to start working on building my Rube Goldberg.

I researched the Rube Goldberg, a lot. I planned to turn on a light. I watched videos on previous attempts made by other people trying to complete their rube, Goldberg. We watched videos from other classes. I found out that a good and strong material to use is toilet paper rolls marbles and racecar tracks. My brother already did the Rube Goldberg project 5 years ago and helped me research it. He suggested that dominos are a really good material to use, but books look better to use. He showed me the video he did and gave me some great tips. Make sure your rube Goldberg setup is perfect before you start each run. He said you want to have the least amount of fail possible. He made that mistake. He ended in 58 runs. I plan to do it in below 25.

The project Rube Goldberg is going to be very complicated but I think I will be able to do it and I am really excited to finish building it.

Constitution Screencast

One month ago we were working on researching the constitution. I thought after this unit we were done with researching the constitution. Then Ms. Edwards (my teacher) said we are going to start a project. She said we would choose a person or amendment we want to study. I chose Rosa Parks.

I researched a lot about Rosa Parks. We kept on researching until one day Ms. Edwards wanted us to come up with a question. The question was supposed to be about your project. My question was “How did Rosa Park contribute to the civil rights movement?’ We started to work on an essay. I worked really hard on my essay. Ms. Edwards had informed us we were going to do a presentation. At first, I thought, “oh no public speaking”. One month ago we were working on researching the constitution. I thought after this unit we were when Ms. Edwards told us we would record our presentation at home and show it to the class the day after I felt relieved.

We worked on our script for a while. A lot of my friends compared and contrasted each other’s work. Once we finished our script we worked on our slideshow. I recorded at home and shared my presentation with my class. I really enjoyed learning about Rosa Parks, I find her really interesting. In conclusion, I loved this unit and hope we get to do something like this again.

Feature Article Reflection

Feature Article Reflection

It all started when Ms. Edwards said we would start a new unit. She said the unit would be on feature articles. A few days later we started to pick a topic and research it. I knew exactly what I wanted to do, Greek Mythology.

The reason why I wanted to do that topic is that I am reading Percy Jackson (which includes a lot of Greek mythology.) Whilst we were researching, Ms. Edwards wanted the class to think about what categories you wanted to base your research on. I had no clue what I wanted to base my research on. This was one of my biggest struggles for writing a feature article. I was going through a lot of trial and error.

Then my friends pitched some ideas. Cayden, Devon, Christian, and Jaba all helped me with coming up with categories. I settled for the categories Mount Olympus, Greek Heroes, Greek Myths, and Ancient Greek stories. We started to create conclusions and an intro. The intro was okay, but my conclusion took me forever! I probably spent two hours on it. For about a week I spent time gathering info and putting it all on a doc.

What was really hard was that there were barely any good sites where I could gather information. somehow I still managed to wind up with 1000 words of information.

I could still not believe that I had that much information. After I was done with my research and categories we made a slideshow. That slideshow would be the feature article. We started adding information and formatted the slideshow. We added pictures, graphs, and timelines. Ms. Edwards assigned all of us partners to look over each other’s work and fix any problems they see. Jaba, Devon, Jaden, and Christian. We all checked over each other’s work countless times. Ms.Edwards told us to think of a title and a meaning. I was stuck. I had no clue what I should do for meaning. I thought for meaning I should do “ Greek Mythology has impacted the world we live in today” To be honest I didn’t really like that. I kept on thinking of what my meaning should be but then I settled on my meaning. “Greek Mythology is way more elaborate than you think.” For the title, I did Greek Mythology. Overall, I found this unit really fun even though I hit a lot of tough spots,I managed to get out of them and grow as a writer.
