An exciting Capstone project
Hi!
In school we started Capstone! Capstone is a project where you choose a topic that you’re interested in, research it, and present it. For my topic I chose men’s gymnastics. I chose that topic because I thought it was very different from women’s gymnastics, and I only know about women’s. We are also doing an interview, and a site visit. I’m interviewing a coach from my team at the JCC, and for my site visit I’m going to a place where they train called World Cup Gymnastics. So far I have learned a lot of things about men’s gymnastics, especially the events that they do. Some interesting facts about my topic:
- Men don’t have music in their routines
- The parallel bars have to have consistent movement
- On parallel bars they swing, fly, and hold moves
- They only touch the vault for a split second
- Men vault across the length, girls across the width
- The men’s events order is Floor Exercise, Pommel Horse, Still Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars, and Horizontal Bar
- On the pommel horse only hands are allowed to touch
We have been researching for about a week, and the whole process of Capstone takes 6 weeks. The “museum” is June 8th. We’ll all present our topics, and in the day all the grades come to see, and in the night for 5:00~6:30 the parents and siblings come to see.
Thank you! 🙂
