Movie day

“Get up!” our dad shouts in our ear.

“Uhh,” we moan as we roll out of bed.

“I can’t wait to go to camp!” my brother screams like somebody clicked a button in his head to wake him up. Slowly we ate breakfast got changed, brushed our teeth and hopped in the car. when we got there we trudged to the stop hugged my brother bye. And he hopped on the bus and he was off. The bus stop was filled with hands waving rapidly and dogs tugging on their leashes trying to go with the kids in the bus. There was also parents screaming last good byes. After the bus was out of sight me and my dad hauled our sweaty feet to the car. In the car I asked him if we could go bowling.

“Maybe” he says (which usually means no)

“Can we go to the movies?”

“No!” he says until the afternoon the rest of the day was boring.

“Ved get your socks and shoes on we are going to the movies.”

“What?” I jumped I was spacing out from the blistering heat.

”Which movie?” I said.

“The one you wanted to watch ‘Captain Underpants.’”

“Cool,” we drove through the midday traffic and headed for the movies. We park in the nearest parking lot which is three blocks away. And we walk to the theater. First we go to the ticket booth and buy tickets. Then we go to the counter and ask for popcorn. We can hear the “pop” “pop” “pop” of the popcorn machine and the buttery smell of the popcorn being made. Ohh I can’t wait to eat that popcorn I think.

“Here you go,” says the cashier

“Thank you!” we say gobbling the popcorn. “When we sit down in the theater?” I ask.

“We should save the popcorn for the movie.”

“Nahh.” we say at the same time
