I FINISHED!

Today I came to class early and I was determined. I had paste waxed yesterday so it was time for spray wax. I did it as fast as
I could and finally I was done. My box is very shiny now and so smooth, I am so happy that i finally finished my box.

More box progress

A lot has happened since me last post. My box fell apart and then the pieces that fell off went missing. So I had to find new parts, I did find new parts but my box looked horrible, so I spent a lot of time at the belt sander trying to fix it. I fixed it, then I routed, stained, and used pollycrillic. Three days ago I finished using steel wool to sand, but I still had to Hinge. Two days ago I hinged very quickly unfortunately one of my hinges are crooked. Yesterday I hadn’t waxed yet but I had done everything else. I really wanted to finish and quickly but I didn’t know if I would.

Box Progress

I have been sanding my box and trying to fit it together but none of the sides are fitting. There are so many little edges that aren’t fitting together and the little things add up. I already did small cuts but now I have to do more. More small cuts will hopefully help it fit together, so I can finally glue my box together..

Box Reflection

I think making the cardboard model helped me because it gave me an idea of how big my box was going to be and if it could fit in my locker. I think the tools really helped in the process because it made the work easier. No person’s hands can make perfect lines without help from a tool so I had a little difficulty keeping the measurement lines straight.

Box Notes

My Box is for me. I will use my box to store anything of value that I need to put away. The box has to be not really big. My box will have two hinges on the back like the box on our table, this is because i want to be able to open it easily. I want my box to be completely straight, I don’t want any carvings on the outside like a beveled edge. I want the walls inside my box to be thin because i want to be able to store large quantities of things in it. I want my box to be colored a dark brown. I want there just to be plain wood inside. The Length will be 8 inches, height 5 inches, and the width will be 5 inches.

Safety In Tech 7

Last year Mr Calvert told us to not run while people are working because you could run into someone and cause an accident. This rule still applies this year because there are dangerous machines in here where if someone ran into someone who is using one of them they could cause an accident. This year one of the safety considerations is to wear safety goggles. This is important because if something dangerous flies near your eyes safety goggles will protect your eyes, but if you’re not wearing safety goggles that thing gets in your eyes and damages it.

Drones

You may have heard of drones, the world wide sensation. Drones are flying mechanisms that are controlled by remote control. Most drones are flying ones but there are car drones. Drones have posed a serious threat to airplanes and other vehicles in the air. New laws have been made to regulate how high people can fly their drones. Amazon has been using drones for quite some time now. They use drones to deliver packages and it is very effective. Maybe drones are the mail men and women of the future.

The mysterious ladybug flashlight

Our class has made flashlights but there is one that no one knows who it belongs to. It has been sitting in a paper towel just sitting there for a long time. It has a ladybug design on it and since it is in a paper towel it looks like it is still drying. No one knows who made the ladybug flashlight and probably no one ever will.

Old Town Road Pettition

In technology we wanted to listen to the Song Old Town Road. Mr. Calvert didn’t want to so we made a petition. We first wrote it on the board with marker and got a lot of signatures. But then someone erased it so we tried again this time on paper. This time to make sure that no one would erase it I wrote everyone’s name who wanted it to be on it. Still people tried to destroy it but we kept going. We got more than 75% of the class to sign the petition, but still Mr. Calvert didn’t play the song. But finally after a few days at the end of class he played it and we were all satisfied.

Flashlights

In technology we have been doing a project for quite some time now. We have been making flashlights. It is a long and grueling experience, first you have to plot it out on some construction paper. Once you have done that you cut peices of pipe that will become your flashlight.  Then you cut wires and skin them to find uncover the metal part of the wire. Then you solder the wires to a light a switch and a battery. Then you put your soldered wires and other things into the pipe and you are done. Making a flashlight has been an interesting experience it was hard, but it is rewarding when you see the finished product and admire your hard work.
