Blog post 12 phones

In class today we were told to make up for missing work. I have one missing blog post and for my final post I decided I would make it on iPhones. Many people in America have a iPhone and they are used for many different purposes. First, for entertainment purposes. Many people when bored go onto there phone for entertainment. Next, safety. If you are ever in any harm, danger, or fear then you have the ability to call anyone for safety and help. Finally, to keep in contact. This is the most used one in times like today. Let’s say your grand parents are very old and you are not able to see them due to COVID. Well, on phones you can call or message anyone to keep in touch and just communicate in general. Overall, phones are very useful product that are very helpful in many scenarios.

How its Made

Today we watched a youtube channel called “How its Made”, I was looking through the options and there was one that caught my eye, thin glass. I always wondered how they were able to get it so thin, though there’s so many more interested things that happen in the process. From what I noticed it had 3 types of properties; Moldabilty, Resilience, and Malleability. First, Moldability is something that’s shape can be changed/deformed they use this property when making the glass with the heat and the heat changes its mold. Next, Resilience, which is when you change its shape it can go back into the shape it was in before. Thin glass is very easy to bend without breaking. Finally, Malleability which is a shape that can be changed by heat which I explained before. Overall the process of making thin glass is very hard and there’s so much involved in the process.

Cars

Cars are one of the most useful things in technology. Nearly 94% of America owns a car, this shows how useful cars are to people and the impact they have made. Cars are the most common use of transportation in America due to the distance it can take you in a shorter amount of time. Also, a type of car is a truck. A truck is a way for companies to deliver their goods to other places. Another way cars are important are because if there is an emergency they can see someone very fast due to cars.

Cutting Thin Wood

Today I’m going to be discussing cutting thin wood. The two typical tools people use when cutting thin wood is a hand saw and the slice precision cutter. When using a handsaw you keep all fingers on the grip, you have to be patient, and this tool works well going with or against the grain. The grain is the direction the lines on the wood is going, either side to side, or up and down. Also, the slice precision cutter works great going with the grain but not against it, you only need to go through the wood twice then you can snap it off, finally the pen needs to be on a 45° angle or the pen will not work as well. Overall, I am very excited to be able to cut and build wood and so far it has been a very fun experience.

3-D printing

You may be wondering “What is 3-D printing and how does it work?” 3D printing is a computerized design of your choice that later comes out as a 3 dimensional figure using a process called Layering. 3D printing is such a cool thing because you can create anything you want. For example, when I was in 3 grade my family and I went to a 3D printing studio where they would have a room with camera everywhere that rotate. They would take photos, and later a 3D printed sculpture of you would come out and it included every single small detail. A 3D printer typically looks something like the photos below. Thank you, Vanessa.

Timber Harvest

Today we watched a video on how in the early 1900’s they harvested wood. I specifically find it very cool how the number of circles on the inside of the wood is the amount of seasons the tree has been alive for. Also, it is a very different process from now because they didn’t have machines back then, which caused this job to be very dangerous, they had to use: Hand saws and Hammers to cut down trees for wood. Also, to climb the trees they had to use ropes instead of ladders.

Como Tech #2

We started a project called “about me” and we add characters that shows your favorite activities. I added in a soccer ball, tennis ball, food to bake, fruits and puppy’s. I would have added more but there is not many more options that relate to me. I would have added a lacrosse stick, arts n crafts, and more. Overall, I enjoyed this project because it was a fun start to the fourth quarter!

Comp Tech #1

I loved this video because it proves that anyone, even if they are not knowledgeable about coding, can still code. Personally for me, I do not have much of a coding background but now watching this video I am more confident that I will be able to become good at coding.

Tech post #10

I’m very sad that tech is now over, but at least I added it on a good note! I finished my flashlight and I really enjoy the way it works and looks. The reason why tech was so fun is because I really enjoy moving my hands and doing things. My flashlight works very well and I cannot wait to actually use it! Thank you mr.calvert for teaching me everything I have learned! Here’s is a picture of what my flashlight looks like:
