Seed Pods

Seed Pods

This week I saw in my controlled plant that there were seed pods. When all of the flowers fell I got confused. I told myself, ”Where did all of the flowers go?” After we had a science lesson I understood it more. It was because of the pollinating, it was part of the cycle. Last week our seed pods were a bit wide and a little long, but now it is completely different. Now it’s much wider and much longer. Seed pods hold seeds, there is not just one seed there are more. My group predicted that there was about 10-12 seeds in there before. Now there is about 14-18 seeds in there. My groups pollinating and our seed pod units was successful. That is how our plant unit went.

Week 2 on plants

Week 2

This us our classes second week on plants. Our controlled plant has grown a lot! Before it was 2in. Now it is 3 and 5in. Our plant looks very healthy we are watering it and giving it sunlight. It is green and tall. Sometimes we measure it and some other times we write down our observations.

On our kinetic sand group nothing is growing. I think it is not growing the same reason as it did before. I will say why it is not growing now, the kinetic sand won’t split apart and the water will not absorb to the kinetic sand.

Also, my whole class (including my teacher) are making a plant that has NO sunlight. We are taking turns watering the plant. After we water we make observations in a packet (also for the manipulated plant and the controlled plant). Our no sunlight plant is not looking very healthy. I think this because it is not green it is yellow and because the stem is white not green.

I thought over all for the second week  the controlled plants grew compared to the first week. This is what I think about the second week of plants

My First Week On Plants

Week One of Plants

On May Third my class has started a plant unit. My group has chosen to plant in kinetic sand. So first what we did is we planted it in a cell, then we put in wicks.  Also our whole class has a plant growing with no sunlight. My group is also planting a regular plant. Our group’s rotation is that two people water each day. One will water the controlled one and one will water the kinetic sand one. Our kinetic sand one is not growing but our controlled one is growing.  We were going to do it in regular sand but since we had none we choose not to plant it in regular sand , instead we chose to plant it in kinetic sand. My group doesn’t think that it will grow in the kinetic sand because it will not split apart and the water won’t evaporate to the plant. That is what I did on my first week of plants.

Math State Test

Math State Test

I enjoyed the math state test. I enjoyed it because it was not very hard but not very easy. I also think it was very good because it was like review for what we already learned like perimeter, multiplication, fractions and area.

On the first day it took about 1 hour- and 30 minutes. I was having a little trouble but it was still pretty easy.

On the second day it took the same amount of time. I wasn’t having as much trouble because it was the same thing and I already did something like it.

On the third day it took more time. Maybe like 2 hours because it was a bit challenging and it was very different than the other 2 days because it did not have a bubble sheet and it was a lot more challenging than the others.

That is why I enjoyed the Math State Test.

ELA test reflection

My class and I just finished the ELA test. I enjoyed the test because I think that it was a challenge. I also think this because it was very fun and I enjoy writing. The test had a lot of writing involved, so I enjoyed that very much and I learned a lot. Not everybody did, but I also did not like it because I know how to write more information than we should write down. Also, not everybody could understand what was going on. When you were done you didn’t know what to do because you finished the test.

This is what I think about the ELA test.
