In my interview with Alison Starr, she informed me on so much! She said that every single pose can be modified in at least one way. The easiest pose to teach is the child’s pose because its just the pose that’s very modified and everyone can do. I also had to learn how to interview people. For example you have to take it seriously but at the same time you should try to have fun as your doing it. I am family friends with the person I interviewed, so it was kind of awkward talking to her in an interview sort of way, but it ended up working out well! Here are the questions that I asked Ms.Starr:

Refugee

For my  read aloud in class we are reading a book that is called Refugee by Alan Gratz. In Josef’s journey, they are running away from the Nazis, and left Germany on the boat called The MS. St. Louis.  In the earlier part of his journey, the Nazis had all of the power. I know that they had the power because they were coming into EVERYONE (who was a jew) house’s. The Nazis would knock all their houses down and ruin it. The night that this happened was called kristallnacht. The time Josef had the power was when the father attempted to commit suicide and the mom took the pills, he felt as if he was the adult in his family, because he was taking care of everything and doing everything that his parents would, its especially hard when he has his younger sister to take care of as well.

After my email with Alison Starr about the interview, I had to start thinking of a site visit. For my site visit I was going to visit the location Mrs.Starr worked at. Although Mrs.Starr only does privates, so unless I wanted to go to somebody else’s house I couldn’t do a site visit with Mrs.Starr. I then did research and asked my mom if she knew anywhere I could do a site visit at. She told me, Yoga Spark. I looked up “Yoga Spark”, and it is a yoga place (exactly what it sounds like). It is not hot yoga or any cool or different type of yoga, its just basic yoga. I’m very excited to go! I am going to figure out a date that I can go there.

I have started doing research and trying to think of people I could possibly interview. I knew someone from a different Scarsdale elementary school whose mom is a yoga teacher. So I thought she would be a good person to interview. I reached out to her by sending her an email. She replied within 5-10 minutes saying how much she would love that! I was so excited because now I will not be stressed about finding someone to interview. Except, we have not discussed times/dates that she is available to do this. All I know is that I know who I’m going to interview, next step, writing the questions.

Best Regards,

I have started to find some resources and doing some presearch. As I was doing my work I remembered all the databases and books that there are in my school library! A very common database that I use is BrainPop, which is where you look up a topic and it shows you a video related to the topic, the characters are animated and one of them is a robot which makes kids more interested to watch the videos. I also have two books I found. One of the books is called “The Little Book of Mindfulness” the other one is called “Peaceful Piggy Meditation” both of the two books are instructions for when you meditate yourself/ a group.

thanks for reading,

One of the BIGGEST school projects that only 5th Graders do, which I have been looking for all of my years has started! Capstone! Capstone is a project that you do for 2 entire months! The only struggle that I currently know of is, choosing a topic… There are so many things that I can do it on, and it should be something I really want to study because of how long this project is! Well at the beginning of the year I wanted to do slime, except I don’t like it now and there is not much to study! Then, I thought of doing Jewelry but it’s not something I want to study for a chunk of time. Then I limited down to…. drum roll please…. meditation!
