News Type: World

Summary: In Russia, a spacecraft called Soyuz took off at 4:40 AM. In less than two minutes, the astronauts had to make an emergency landing because the rocket had malfunctioned. The emergency landing was forced because the rocket’s booster hadn’t detached from the capsule. Fortunately, the two astronauts, Alexey Ovchinin and Nick Hague, were well prepared to evacuate the rocket. They made it to the ground safely. The two astronauts landed 34 minutes after the malfunction, and were in excellent shape. After the incident, Ovchinin and Hague still wanted to go to space, though.

Personal Response: I chose this article because I thought it was interesting that something had gone wrong in a rocket launching for once. Also, I like explosions.

Tweet: A spacecraft malfunctioned in Russia and two people had to evacuate! I think that’s pretty cool. @dogonews #foxmeadowpride

Hi Will! I think you did an good job on describing how the astronauts landed and were in perfect shape. I think that they will finally realize that they still have a long way to go until it is perfect.
