1897 Amelia Earhart was born

1915  Amelia graduated Hyde Park High School in Chicago

1917 Amelia became a nurse in Toronto, Canada

1921 Amelia took her flying lessons from Neta Snook and got her airplane in July

1922 Amelia set her record, flying to a height of 14,000 feet

1928 Amelia became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic(as a passenger)

1931 Amelia married George Putnam

1932 Amelia became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic and she set the record of fastest woman to fly across the United States

1935 Amelia became the person to fly solo across the Pacific Ocean

1936 Amelia began her flight round the world

1937 Amelia disappeared near Howland in the Pacific ocean on July 2

 

Impact on the world

 

Amelia had a big impact on the world. She inspired women to follow their dreams and fight for what they believed in. The reason she got famous was all of because one pilot Captain Hilton Railey. He invited her to be a passenger on a plane called the Friendship. Amelia hesitated but then she agreed she was going be the first woman to go across the Atlantic by plane!

Accomplishments

Amelia had many accomplishments. The one she was most known for was the first woman fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. But she had many more accomplishments such as the highest a woman has ever been in a plane, another record is she set many land speed records. She was a woman that had of many accomplishments.

 

Personal life

 

Amelia Earhart was born on July 24, 1897  in Atchison Kansas. When Amelia was growing up little girls were supposed to behave like young ladies. But Amelia didn’t. Young Ladies didn’t jump over fences her grandmother yelled at her. But Amelia did. Young ladies wore dresses with ruffle aprains. But amelia didn’t she wore bloomers when she went out to play she said they made her feel free and athletic

Amelia’s grandmother shook her head at Amelia’s tomboy ways her parents,though didn’t worry about what was proper. They gave baseballs and footballs to Amelia and her sister Muriel.

 

Obstacles

When Amelia got out of college she did not know what to do with her life.  She tried being a nurse’s aid, but did not like the long days. When she started taking flying lessons, she could only take the lessons on the weekends.  She had to work at a phone company to pay for the lessons.  As a woman, learning to fly was more difficult than if Amelia was a man.  Most men learned to fly in the war, but women had to take lessons. In 1924, Amelia’s parents got divorced.  She moved to Massachusetts with her mom.  Sam, her boyfriend, decided he did not want to marry her, because she had a job.
