11/3/21 Wednesday,

I have a piano concert in January and I have been practicing this piece since September. The piece I’m practicing is a ten-page long piece named, “Six Valses” which I have to memorize and make sure I can play the entire song in 5 min. That might not seem like such a time limit to you, but that means that I have to play each page in 30 seconds and that means I have to play super fast. The standards are so high, my teacher says that if I can’t memorize my piece by Thanksgiving I’d better drop out of the concert! It’s so stressful because I managed to actually play the entire song just before Halloween. I’m on level 4 and the piece that I’m playing is almost level 5, which means It’s one of the hardest pieces for piano players on level 4. My sister, on the other hand, is playing a level 4 piece that is closer to level 3 and it’s two pages long with everything repeating again and again so it’s easy to memorize. I could go charging about this scenario for hours but I’ll end here, for now.

12/5/21 Sunday, 9:55

Today I’m going ice skating for the first time. We have a plan that Dad made up. I’m quite skeptical about it but I’ll tell you it anyway.

Step 1

Drive to a freezing outdoor skating rink with people who hate the cold.

Step 2

Watch some tutorials on how to skate on youtube.

Step 3

Be naturals at skating.

As you can see this plan is likely to end in failure. But I’ll write in the afternoon about the experience.

I’m back!

It was okay. At first, we had to stick to the wall and the only direction we were moving was backward. We fell … a lot. The second dad got on the ice, he fell. It was pretty fun after I got the hang of it, I could even leave the fence and skate in the middle of the rink. Well, it wasn’t really skating but it was moving on the ice with skates. We are going to “skate” again sometime, though Dad doesn’t want to go on the ice because he fell down a lot.

2/18/22 Friday, 3:25,

Starting from late January, Alyssa and I are preparing for a 15 movement test. I started late and now I’m behind schedule! There is a lot of pressure. My first piece is Sonatina In G by Beethoven (simplified). You’d be surprised by how easy it is. But, the biggest problem isn’t that the pieces are hard, it’s that I have to memorize them! All 15 movements! We already have a deadline by which I have to finish doing everything! I only have two weeks to learn and finish my sonatinas. That might sound like a lot of time but it’s not. I still have school and after-school classes, plus homework from both the school and after-school classes.

PS – I have classes on Saturdays and Sundays.
