Capstone Blog Post 2#

As I said in Capstone Blog Post 1# Our teacher assigned us the Capstone project that we have to present at the end of the school year. This is our biggest project of the year and I know what your thinking, “Ayan, We really don’t care” Well keep reading anyways because this is a cool project. We had to find interviews and let me tell you, that was no walk in the park. Literally as well.

I tried a woman named Monica Gagliano, who is known for her classical conditioning as a pea plant, but her email said she was “working in the fields’ and “wont be back for months.” It was an automated message. What a load of bull-hunky. At this point in the project I was just sagging around like a depressed bag of wet sand. But my teacher would not have that so she asked her niece which told her friend to interview me. My teacher’s, niece’s, friend was able to interview me and the question results came out great.

It was a big surprise that happened when all hope was lost. It was really educational and helpful for my project. I got my answers back in email. Now I really know a lot about plant intelligence. There are so many things I still need to uncover. Because of this interview I can write and amazing script thanks to my teacher’s, nieces, friend, Dr. Thomas Owens! (Yay!)

Refugee By Alan Gratz Answers Q&A

Hello. Our teacher is reading Refugee by Alan gratz and our class created some questions that today I will answer

Question 1:

  •  In Refugee by Alan Gratz, Why did the dad go to a stranger’s funeral, but not to his own son’s Bar Mitzvah?

Josephs dad went to the funeral because at his so-called “concentration camp” aka jail they wouldn’t have funerals and he felt that it would be the right thing to finally attend a funeral to pay his respects. He has a good reason to go to the funeral but I thought that was just wrong because a stranger or your son. I would choose my son.

Question 2:

  •  In Refugee by Alan Gratz, What did the smuggler mean by “they take Syrians” – do some hotels not?

Well some hotels will take Syrians but some hotels could not be kind and only accept people who are not refugees because they probably don’t want to get arrested for hiding someone who is breaking laws by sneaking out. They could also be afraid they could be on the side of the bombers and they must be scared. Honestly people who won’t let them in are less then smart because it could be good for business. I read my friend Trinity’s blog post about this, and I agree with everything she said.

Question 3:

  •  In Refugee by Alan Gratz, Why is Waleed not scared? Why does he not get super frustrated? Does it seem like he doesn’t care?

This is because Waled is obviously emotionally scared and is shocked that he was centimetres away from dying by falling and it is hard to live In those terrible conditions at only age 10. He is petrified, and not used to this like almost all other kids. If I was in that scenario I would bawl my eyes out.

These are my responses to my classmates’ questions. If you oppose any of my answers please tell me in the comments. Thank you.

We The People | These are your rights By Adam Lambert

Questions:

  1. What, to you, is the most important right for a citizen to have in a free country? What’s the most important right for a student to have? : The most important right for a citizen to have in a free country is the 1st amendment which has the right of speech, assembly, press, petition, and religion. Those are all the most common rights people use today. The most important right for a student to have is the 1st amendment and the 8th amendment. The reason I think the first amendment is important is that the student should have the right of press because the student can write freely in their notebook and type on a document. Another reason for a student to have the 1st amendment is that they will have the right of speech. I think this because these kids are our next generation and should learn and have fun without being quiet. The reason I think that students should have the rights of the 8th amendment is that the student should not be punished very cruelly for unnecessary things like spanking for talking in class.
  2. Do you think all citizens should have the same rights? Why or why not? Yes, all citizens should have the same rights because there should no such thing as a person more superior than one another. All should have the same right to live a happy normal life with life and liberty.
  3. Can your rights ever be limited? In what ways or for what reasons? Yes, Some rights can be limited like the 2nd amendment which gives you the right to bear arms. Bearing arms means having full custody of weapons and guns. This should be limited because people can use guns for very wrong and terrible things. Also, people don’t have enough evidence to own them. Back then they needed guns to protect themselves from wolves and other wild animals. Also, they needed guns to hunt food. Nowadays you get food from the store and there are no wolves near you.

4. Are there any rights that we don’t necessarily have that you believe we should? Why? One right I think we should have is it being illegal to smoke with more the 5 people around you. I think this because if you are smoking and people are around you it’s unnecessary to increase the chances of them getting lung cancer and other diseases.

We The People Stronger by Janelle MonĂĄe | Analysis

Janelle Monáe – Stronger Lyrics

Most of my friends want a little peace

Some of my friends want a little solace

Even when we struggle and we get kicked down

We pick each other up with a little polish

All of my friends want a legacy

Don’t wanna be left out

Every time you think we get a little weak

We get a little bit stronger

[Chorus]

Ah, we the people, we the people

The people getting stronger

Ah, we the people, we the people

The people getting stronger

Ah, we the people

The people getting stronger

And every time you think we get a little weak

We get a little bit stronger

[Verse 2]

Some of my friends taught me how to dream

Some of my friends taught me how to fight

Even those times when we don’t agree

We know we all tryna slay the same giant

We don’t want the life without the liberty

Not gonna be left out

Every time you think you got the best of me

We get a little bit stronger

[Chorus]

Ah, we the people, we the people

We get a little stronger

Ah, we the people, we the people

The people getting stronger

Ah, we the people

The people getting stronger

Every time you think we get a little weak

We get a little bit stronger

[Verse 3]

Now they cast their votes ’cause the people wanna speak

And they check and they balance ’cause the people wanna eat

And they due process ’cause they seek equality

And we pay for the world so the people in the streets

And they love America, where the people wanna be

And they all know their rights from the sea to shining sea

From the states to the ghettos, yeah, the people gonna see

That the people hold the power and together we’re a little bit stronger

[Chorus]

Ah, we the people, we the people

The people getting stronger

Ah, we the people, we the people

The people getting stronger

Ah, we the people

The people getting stronger

Every time you think we get a little weak

We turn around and get a little bit stronger

Ah, we the people, we the people

The people getting stronger

Ah, we the people, we the people

The people getting stronger

Ah, we the people

The people getting stronger

Every time you think we get a little weak

[Outro]

We don’t want the life without the liberty

We don’t want the life without the liberty

REFLECTION

What stronger really is to me is a song about how black people were put down in life and how they had no liberty in their life. For example, In the song, It is stated MULTIPLE times that they were put down and they don’t want a life without liberty. Some of the lyrics in the chorus kind of tell me something. When the chorus states “we the people” Multiple times, Maybe they are trying to change the meaning. For example, in 1787 the constitution was published and in the beginning, they say, ” We The People Of The United States,”. By that, they mean men who are wealthy land owners, No blacks, no women, not even men because they’re not rich and wealthy. Now, I think they mean everybody because it clearly states in the song, “Now they cast their votes ’cause people wanna speak And they check and balance ’cause people wanna eat And they due process ’cause they seek EQUALITY

My Personal Narrative And Narrative Reflection

Hi there! Today I will be sharing my personal narrative! Hope you enjoy it!

Reflection:
One writing technique I used in my writing that I used most effectively was action words. For example: “Everybody was skating as if they depended on it for their survival.” One more writing technique I thought was effective in my writing was punctuation. For
example, I used quotation marks to state when someone is speaking. I also used asterisks to show when an inanimate object made a sound for example: *BEEEEEEEEP* The bell rang. It was the end of the 2nd period of my hockey game.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. By J.K. Rowling. Pt 2

Continuing my writing about Harry Potter, Harry just arrived at Hogwarts but when in the flying car was spotted by 7 Muggles, (Muggles are normal human beings) and are almost expelled! Harry starts to hear some voices which makes him curious about this. Soon he finds bloody writing on the wall which said, “The Chamber Of Secrets Has Opened, Enemies Of The Heir Beware.”  This relates to the title, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.”

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets. By J.K. Rowling

The book that I’m reading is Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets. In the book, Harry is being locked in his room by the Dursleys, After being warned by Dobby the house-elf, which made too much noise and got him to the point where he was locked up. but is saved and taken to Ron Weasley’s house. After being taken to the Weasleys house he was transferred to Hogwarts but the passageway to platform 9 3/4 was blocked! They decided to take their secret flying car. It is almost as if when dobby warned harry to not go backed to Hogwarts, he used magic to block the passageway.
