Final Overview and Presenting

Yesterday I performed my Ted talk to all the parents and it went pretty well. The one thing I did wrong was accidentally skipped the part of my script that talked about faze shift delay. The thing I did well was once I skipped this I kept making eye contact with the audience and I talked loudly. Presenting was fun and I think the best part of this was talking about sleep disorders because the audience looked so engrossed into what I was saying. Overall I really liked the project and to this day I am still very interested in my topic. I mainly liked researching sleep disorders solutions because I think it is cool to see how people fix problems. I learned that on stage I stutter a little bit and when I look over the audience it helps. I also learned that I am very good at taking notes and organizing them

Question skills

I think that through this process my question asking has got a lot better, now when I ask questions about bigger topics I ask questions that have many answers and spark other questions. I think I learned these mostly from the start of the project when we had to set our question for the whole entire project. I also learned these skills from my interview when I had to make 20 questions.

Talking

I also learned through this process how to talk in public when I was talking to the crowd and asking my interview questions.

Final slideshow and script

I’ve been working on my capstone for a while and I finally came out with my final presentation. I am very proud of it and I think that if I were to redo it I would change nothing. I think this because I had a great strategy of doing my script then making little bullet notes of things I have to say. I did this because now when I’m reading my script final presentation I can make eye contact with the audience. Also with this strategy, it will help me memorize my script because it doesn’t have to be one way every time . The other thing I had a problem with was finding photos that didn’t have a mark on it. I also had to find photos that were big enough so I wouldn’t have to stretch them so they look bad. The one solution I had for this with my only solution and it was to go to the side filter and change the size. I feel pretty good about reading this in public because I have memorized most of it and I talk loud enough so people can hear me the one other thing I like about my script is it’s not extremely long it’s only five and a half minutes.

Answering main inquiry question

My main research question for my capstone project is: “Why do we sleep and how does that help the body develop?”. I found a lot of websites but first I had to have good search terms. This was one of my fails since I was typing all my questions into google so I didn’t get good results. An example of this is instead of typing in sleep disorders I would type in what are some sleep disorders that keep people awake?. Advertisements for beds would appear on my screen, a website might have looked good but it was really an ad. From this, I learned that it’s important to write a list of really good search terms to start a research project. I think this will help me in life when I do another research project.

the most helpful resource was my interview because I could ask questions, get answers and ask more questions (follow up questions).
