In class, we had to interview an immigrant. You could choose a family member or friend. I chose my family friend, called Federico. We interviewed them and then put together a video. This is a little bit about mine.
I found using Adobe really easy. I did not have a lot of options, so it was less overwhelming. The voice-over was stressful because I had to record each picture individually. Also, the voice-over can not be longer than 11 seconds. When writing the script, I got it done really quick since I had really detailed answers. The most challenging thing was redoing my video after it got deleted. I had to start over from scratch. It got stressful because I had to restart everything. Also, some things did not come up the second time I did the video.
I learned that there is no reason to be nervous when you are going to do an interview. Usually, the person you are interviewing is really nice. Conducting an interview is a lot easier than you might think. Especially if you are confident, flexible and a good listener. I also learned that people from the 1960s and on did not go to Ellis Island because it closed.
In conclusion, I think doing this project was really important. We need to learn from real-life experiences, not just stories.
