Hello again! In class we have been hard at work, working on capstone. We have been finding experts to interview. Then we emailed them to sort out the time and where we would have the interview. I think this part of the research is beneficial for some, like me, but it can provide very little information for others. I was also really excited to interview someone.
The first thing I did was go home to ask my mom and Dad if they knew anybody who was a scientist. Even though my Mom said she knew someone, I still went to Google to search for women in science today. Many people who showed up in the Google search were either in a different country or were not alive anymore.
So I asked my Mom, “ Who do you know that is a woman in science?”
She told me that her family friend who she knew all her life (and I knew all my life), Christine was a medical scientist. I had totally forgotten that she was a scientist, it was perfect!
Now that I had my interview I needed questions to ask her. I started by brainstorming questions in any order. Then I asked my teacher, Mrs. Cooper, to look over them, and see if there were any corrections. She gave comments on the dock and I corrected and edited the questions. I think for me, it was pretty easy finding a person to interview overall.
Conducting the interview was fairly easy. Christine is super nice and the interview was less than twenty minutes. She gave me understandable answers that I could get the gist of. We talked about the questions and I found that there was no reason to be nervous. I got a lot of good information, like what happened to her company specifically, and what it was like. I think the information I got will be really useful when I start my final project.
In conclusion, I think my interview went really well! Also do not be afraid, lots of people will be kind to you during the interview and the process to get there.
