In school, my class and I are doing a unit on immigration. For our final project, we had to interview an immigrant of our choice. We will put together a presentation to share with our classmates. I interviewed a family friend, Fede (Federico is his full name).
The process began with, finding questions to ask. Mrs. Cooper shared a document with some suggestions on what the questions should be like. I wrote 20 down in a doc of my own. I edited my questions so that they sounded more grown-up. I looked to my Mom and brother a lot for help. I rehearsed the questions and practiced using the recording app on my phone. Then I was ready.
I was really nervous when I met up (In-person) with the person that I was interviewing. But I soon realized I had nothing to worry about. We started looking at old photos and chose a few. Just like I had practiced I propped up my phone and started to ask questions. I did my interview a month before it was do. So I had my final answers done early. I liked doing the interview because I got to know my friend better. One thing I would have liked is to take a picture of what Fede looks like now.
In conclusion, I think that learning to interview someone is important. I also thought it was fun.
