First Week of 5th Grade

Do you know that two-thirds of people like school? Well, the first week of school is the best week for even people who don’t like school! Today I am going to tell you about what I enjoyed during the first week of school and also what I am looking forward to. If you want to know about my first week of school then keep reading my blog post!

Two things I enjoyed during the first week of school were the Index Card Challenge and making locker signs. The Index Card Challenge was about working together to make a tall structure with only 100 index cards. We also estimated the height that the index cards would reach. I liked it because we had to work together and figure out how to make a tall structure that matched the height that we thought it would reach! We had to look at someone else’s index card tower to get ideas because we were struggling. I also enjoyed making locker signs. You can design them in any way you like, and then get to put it on your locker for you to see any time you open your locker! I liked seeing what other people had made and I was able to grow ideas of what I should put on my locker sign (I didn’t use anyone’s ideas).  It was nice to see my work getting hung up on my locker so I can always be able to see it when I need to grab something from my locker.

Two things I am looking forward to are the field trips and fantasy book clubs. I am looking forward to the field trips because there is one where we get to go on a rope course called Bedford Rope Course that sounds super fun! I am looking forward to it because I saw pictures of last year’s trip last year and it looked really fun. I am also looking forward to the fantasy book clubs because I like reading and I think it will be fun to read a book in a group! For example, the book I am currently reading is a fantasy book.

As you can see, I really enjoyed locker signs and the Index Card Challenge and I also enjoyed sharing this with you! Have you ever done fun activities in the first week of school? Have you ever had something to be looking forward to?
