Aisha American Revolution The Stamp Act

My topic for the AmRev is The Stamp Act. I don’t know a lot about Social Studies, and I could have picked anything. However, I chose The Stamp Act because it was the subject that I knew the least about, and I wanted to learn more about it. I could have made a good guess for what The French and Indian War was about, and a lot of what the other topics were about. I learned more by choosing the Stamp Act, which is why I chose it. I am presenting through a movie because I am not good at memorizing things. A movie looked and sounded a lot better than choosing an Ignite or TedTalk ( In my point of view).

The thing that I needed the most support with was both the recording and the pictures. The reason I needed support on the recording was because it was hard to not pause while I was recording, and I still have a little bit of pauses in my movie. The reason I needed help on the pictures was because it was so confusing. I needed to use a Creative Commons License to download things and I had to put them in my WeVideo. Another reason I needed support on pictures is because I used a chromebook for my project. Whenever I went to the Computer Lab, I had to use a Mac. Then I had to press different buttons to get an image from Google.

My favorite part of this project was when I got to add pictures, because it was both fun and challenging.

This project has helped me learn how to collect research because now I know that I need to go to Creative Commons License to get an image from Google. I also know that it is more efficient to find a link to do research then just look up something on Google.

I am presenting through a Movie. I am not nervous to present because I will be presenting a Movie. I won’t be talking to a big bunch of people and they will just see my work.

Extreme Weather Reflection

When I originally started working on my weather project, I didn’t want my topic to be on tornadoes. Like everyone else in my class, I wanted to research tsunamis. But eventually I decided that it didn’t really matter about what group I got. I had to rock-paper-scissors someone for my subtopic, which was prevention and safety. But I was nervous as I didn’t have a lot of information on it.

Researching was way more challenging than I had expected. I only found one website that mentioned safety about tornadoes. I used only one book and one website, but both of them had a lot of information to share. It was fun to research for information, but also very challenging. I found more information on the website than the book. However, they both provided a lot, so I had to be very particular with what I chose to keep. But that wasn’t a struggle for me.   All I had to do was just look at my notes and then type it down. Sure, it took a long time, and it was harder than it seemed to find pictures that supported my work, but it still was still easy.

I did however, struggle with memorizing all of the information I found, as well as finding the information on my subtopic. Tornadoes are well-known natural disasters, so you might think it was easy to find information, but since my subtopic is prevention and safety, it was super hard to do that.

Memorizing was definitely my biggest struggle! I could never seem to get it right and I thought that I would never fully memorize my slides. I felt sad because the people in my group had three and four slides, meanwhile I struggled with only having two slides. I didn’t speak loud enough when I first rehearsed in front of my class, but it was easily fixed! Rehearsing at home was a lot easier because it was way quieter there. But in the end, I persevered and did a great job!
