“Hi Benjamin Boykin!” my classmates said. Benjamin Boykin is the Chairman of the Board of Legislators. Have you ever met him? I have! In this blog post, you will learn about my classmates and I talking to Benjamin Boykin and how the Legislative Branch organizes and holds their meetings. Two things I learned from the Legislative Branch of the country government was how they organized their meetings and how they held their meetings in the Conference room. For example, their meetings are so organized by their chair telling them if it’s yay or nay. Another example is, how their meetings are in the Conference room, the chair person makes sure everyone gets a chance to talk. Two exciting things I enjoyed about being the role of a legislator is being able to speak in the microphone and talking to Benjamin Boykin. I liked speaking into the microphone because we got to say what we thought about the subject we are debating about if vending machines should have candy and chips. Also I liked when we got to speak to Benjamin Boykin, because we got to take pictures and talk about the facts of the Legislators. It was very interesting. Now that you know all about what I did on my field trip and meeting Benjamin Boykin, Now maybe you can meet him too and learn a lot from him! It was a fun experience and you should go and enjoy it too! Would you go and meet him?
First Week of 5th Grade
You talk with your friends and you start to color. You write things down that you adore. You see your friend’s identity map. “It’s beautiful” you say. “I love yours too!” said your friend. You chat and chat with your friend and enjoy the time that you have together. This is one of the things I will share with you. In this blog post, you will learn about the 20 x 9 challenge and identity map. You will also learn about Challenge Course trip and a Halloween party, which I’m looking forward to.
Two things I enjoyed doing in the first week of school were doing my identity map and 20 x 9 challenge. The identity map was to draw a shape or make a zigzag line but inside of them you wrote something about yourself. For example I enjoyed doing the identity map because I got to express what I am. Another example is writing something in your identity map. I would recommend writing. I love my family, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and I enjoy reading. I did a heart and I wrote what I love inside of the heart and then I drew the background with zigzag lines but I didn’t write in it I used color pencils. Another thing I also enjoyed was the 20 x 9 challenge because I like challenges and I like working together with someone or in a group in math.
Two things I look forward to this year are Challenge Course Trip and the Halloween Party. The Challenge Course Trip is when you do courses with your classmates and you work together to get to the end of the course. The Halloween Party is when you dress up in your costume and all the 5th grade classes get together and play games and have snacks. For example I’m looking forward to the Challenge Course Trip because I would like to work with my classmates and help them reach the other side. Another example is I’m also looking forward to the Halloween Party because I think I would like to see others’ costumes and I like to compete against others.
Ignite Talk Reflection
The Ignite was about hurricanes, and how I felt while I was writing down facts about hurricanes. It was about why hurricanes are dangerous and different parts of the hurricane to know why hurricanes are dangerous. The conclusion was about how I felt after making the project.
The challenge was finding a topic about hurricanes. Another thing that was hard was memorizing the lines for the first time. It was hard but after a while I got it! A success that I did was performing in front of people. It was interesting finding facts about hurricanes.
What I thought during the research, what other people wrote about. I felt great and proud after the project because talking in front of people makes me nervous sometimes. I also felt confused but sometimes surprised when I was researching about hurricanes. I found facts like how fast hurricanes are and how they form.
West Palm Beach Persuasive
I came up with West Palm Beach because I knew it was a great idea to write about it. What I enjoyed from writing was how I was coming up with food, food is great! What I didn’t like writing about West Palm Beach was doing the conclusion, I always have trouble writing about it. I thought about the video being amazing. I want people to go to West Palm Beach and eat, get houses and go to the amazing beaches.

Partner Club Reflection
My favorite part was talking to my partner because I get to share what i said in my jot and we would write each other a little note like good job or nice work. The most challenging part about being in a book club partnership was when we get goofy we don’t do our jot and we don’t know what we are doing tonight. My favorite book was Keena Ford and the journal mix-up because it was interesting how Keena lost her journal and figured out that Tiffany lied to Keena. For my jots,I can work on a web and because I don’t use that type of jot and I think I should get better at it.The character I connected with was Lola from Lola Levien Is Not Mean because we both don’t like someone bullying someone. I think the most important part of working with a partner is you should pay attention to the other person speaking and don’t talk over someone when they are talking. I learned that don’t hurt someone’s feelings when they are talking. They might be like blah blah blah and that could hurt someone like me and you should listen to the other person.
Expert Book: Maltese Dogs
With my ideas of Maltese Dogs I thought about my brother writing his Maltese dog book. I asked him if he would help me and he helped me pick a topic and he said Maltese dogs! When I wanted to do Maltese dogs I had to write on paper! It was difficult on paper but on computers it’s easier! The most difficult part was writing and planning,I had to choose the sub headings and lots of other stuff! I needed a lot of help on spelling because you can’t know how to spell every single word! My favorite of my Maltese dog book was finding the cover. It was really fun! I learned a lot from my book because I had to search up what Maltese dogs can’t have and it said chocolate and a lot of others! I learned from making my book was to helping others and don’t give up if you make a mistake. Try harder! After I made Maltese dogs I felt really happy!
This is my expert book.
Thank you for reading!
Maglev Reflection
We had the track covered with 4 strip magnets. The car had 4 disk magnets on the bottom of the car. The original plan did not work because it did not balance evenly and didn’t cover the magnet to repel. We took away the two middle strips of magnets on the track. We also took the disk magnets away on the bottom of the train and added thee two magnets to the side
We added 2 strip magnets each side to the track to make the train higher and carry more people. It was successful because balanced better with the 4 strip magnets I Learned it takes teamwork while your doing your train. I did like designing because It was interesting how it was floating. It was hard to improve because we messed up 2 times! My favorite part was taping the magnets to the train track and making the car. I learned that we used different stages to figure out what will work. I enjoyed being with my group because they took turns. One part was challenging, the train to balance.
Personal Narrative Reflextion
What I am most proud of is writing dialogue because I want the reader to think of it as real life happening. I really loved the start of my story. It starts like this Bring, bring, bring. I also loved how I ended it, Luciano always says yes. I loved how I added dialogue to me and my mom.
The one thing that was difficult was adding details because you have to read it over again to make sure the spelling is correct. I used to not like how I used too much dialogue but I added more details.I used to not like how I read my writing in my head, now I whisper it.
The Morning Story
Bring, bring, bring. My alarm clock was beeping.
I got up and stopped it and walked to the kitchen,
I groaned “I am hungry.”
Maryna asked me “Then what do you want for breakfast?
I responded “What can I have?” She gave me options of what I could eat.
“I want waffles please!” I told her. Maryna packed me my lunch and snack as she was making my breakfast.
Then, I went upstairs and I saw my mom! I hadn’t seen her often in mornings
“Hi sweetie. How are you? I am getting ready for work!” my mom said
I hugged my mom tight. My mom hugged me tight back also.
My mom asked me “Have you brushed your teeth?” I need to go to work!’
I answered her “Yes I am going to brush my teeth but don’t be late for work!”
“Okay,” my mom said and my mom left.
I brushed my teeth with a flavor that tasted like mint but it had no mint flavor.
After I brushed my teeth, I went to change. I thought what should I wear today?
I yelled “MARYNA! what should I wear?”
Maryna yelled back “I am coming to help!” Maryna came 5 minutes later.
“Wear jeans, a sweater and short sleeves underneath the sweater.” Maryna said
I did what she told me and put on socks.
Then I went to the kitchen so I could wait for the bus. While I was waiting I put on my shoes.
The bus came! It was honking crazy! I got on the bus and talked about what happened this morning because I was on my bus.
I always tell him before I tell him what happened this crazy morning. I say “How was your day yesterday?” Luciano always says good.
I just laughed after he says good.
