Have you ever done one of those projects where you make an article about a thing you know really well? Because I’ve done one about Greek mythology for school and here is how it I did it. My favorite part of making my feature article was the last step because during this step my article started looking a lot cooler. One challenging part was thinking of a message for the reader because Greek mythology doesn’t have a lot of messages. I am most proud of the overall setup for my slideshow because it looks clean and professional . Making my feature article was a long but fun process that involved making three separate sections of info and cool tricks to make it look cooler. In conclusion, my feature article was a hard and really fun project that I had a lot of fun with.If you were making a feature article, what would you make it about?

The board
We were in a huge room debating about laws speaking into microphones that made us sound like giants. You might be wondering, “Where is this?” This was the board of legislators field trip! If you thought that would be fun there is a bit more coming such as meeting the district 5 legislator Ben Boykin and being in the committee room.
The Board of Legislators trip had many fun activities and here are my top three personal favorites. The first thing we did was discuss whether schools should ban unhealthy foods from vending machines. Oh, I forgot to tell you that this was a mock meeting which means we weren’t actually discussing if it would be a law or not. My class’s main answer was no meaning that if the meeting was real, unhealthy foods would not be banned. The second was meeting district five’s legislator, Ben Boykin because he was really nice and told us a lot of cool things. Lastly number three was the committee. The committee was pretty much the same as my first favorite but smaller. Those were my top three favorite parts of the trip. In addition there was still a lot more that I learned on the trip!
People at the board told me that counties and districts can have laws that are separate from the federal government. I also learned that laws started from small ideas that could go really far. Another thing that they said is that the county executive was George Latimer who is also running for the senate which is a part of the legislative branch in Washington DC. One more thing that we were taught was that there is always an odd number of members in the committee and the board so there cannot be a tie in the voting. I honestly never knew about any of this until after the trip.
In conclusion I learned so much about the government and highly recommend it to anyone who likes politics. Have you ever gone to the board of legislators and if so, what did you learn and what were your three favorites?
Week One
I did not think that the first week of school would actually be fun but it turned out to be a 9.5/10! The surprising thing is that there is still a lot more fun stuff to come!!!
The first week of school had many memorable activities, here are some of them. One of the fun activities was the “we make a difference project”. There were also some problems though and one of them was that my sketch looked like a skibidi when it should be a self portrait. I also enjoyed the identity maps. During this project, we divided a piece of paper into sections where we drew pictures of things that make us ourselves. Another activity I liked was independent reading because I started book three of the Percy Jackson series. One of the funniest parts was when a sorceress named Circe turned him into a guinea pig through a milkshake. It was hilarious. All of that was only the start of 5th grade and there’s plenty more to come!
If you thought that was fun, then you should get ready for what’s coming up. One of them is the Halloween party where we dress up in costume and party in the multi purpose room. Fun fact: A few years ago, my mom and I helped set up for the party and there were a whole lot of fun sets, pictures and most importantly, CANDY!!! Another thing I want to do is called hot dog field day. During this event, the entire grade goes outside for pretty much the whole day, sounds fun right? One more thing that I’m super excited for is the comic unit in writing because I am super into comics and I read them all the time!
To conclude, the first week of school has been great and I’m super excited for what comes after it. Some good parts of week one were like the index card challenge! Later in the year you might like hot dog field day! Are you in 5th grade or higher? If so, what was your favorite part of the first week? If not, what are you most excited for?!
