Rube Goldberg blog post #2

When I first started it was fun going around my basement trying to find stuff to use in my project. The hard part was trying to figure out how it was going to all go together. I learned a lot about how simple machines work and how one simple tweak can change the whole outcome. I thought putting the video together was easy I liked putting music and special effects in the video

Capstone #1 blog post

For my capstone project my main idea is how has the three point line in basketball evolved over the years and how has it changed the game.

My 5 sub questions are why did they add the three point line into the game, how did fans and players react when the three point line was added, how has this affected scoring in game, what is the downside of the three point line and, how has this affected coaching strategies.

My dad helped me come up with these questions

I was very lucky that my dad is friends with someone whose brother is a coach at a D1 school so I can interview him.

making sub questions was hard because I kept changing my topic.

rube Goldberg Blog post #1

At first I had trouble thinking of what to do, but then after watching videos of other students I finally came up with an idea. The biggest challenge was making it successful. Also it was hard to find a way to use 3 simple machines. We had an inclined plane, lever and wheel and axle. Our wheel and axle was a toy car but while we were testing it before we videoed it, it wouldn’t work so we used a battery instead. what was was very frustrating is that my mom didn’t video the first success which was very upsetting because it took us a long time to do it after.

Reflecting on Creating My Immigrant Interview WeVideo

When I started to make my video my goal was to use pictures and music to make my interview sound more exciting. I used stock pictures so it was hard sometimes to find a picture that matched. I think the pictures and music made the interview more exciting to listen to.  I have a good understanding of WeVideo so putting the pictures with my voice over and music was pretty easy for me. I am happy with the final outcome.

Reflecting on My Immigrant Interview

It was hard to find a someone to interview because no one in my family that is alive is an immigrant. Luckily, my teacher had someone I can interview. When I was thinking of my question I imagined what other people would want to know about Mrs Stevens and that was how I picked my questions.  It felt like a normal conversation where I just asked questions and she answered them. It was interesting to learn about Mrs. Steven’s immigration story, especially that she has returned to Jamaica many times since immigrating here.

My break

over break I went skiing at Okemo  with my friends Spencer ,Nathan ,Austin, Luke and there family’s. it was so cold. with my dad and my friends we went on a tree run. A tree run is where you ski in the middle of the woods. the first time we went Nathan Austin and Spencer got lost. I bumped into the tree once. on Monday we left and the other days we went sledding.

Argument and Advocacy Debates-Zoos

Researching was easy because there were so many people and each person didn’t have to do as much research as they would have done if everyone was by themselves. It was easy to prepare for the debate because everyone put their information together, so we had a lot more information than if we worked alone. I liked presenting with the group because it allowed us to split the presentation up, so I did not have to say as much. I thought after researching both sides, it was weird that we did not get to choose which side we debated.

Constitution Project post #3

Yes I answered my question. In my project, I presented the pros and cons of 16 year olds being able to vote. I decided that 16 year olds should not be able to vote because I believe that 16 year old do not have the same maturity as 18 year olds and I think there too young. My infographic shows both sides of the argument and additional facts. I think this is an easy way to show the information.

My process was to get my first resource and read through it to get lots of notes from it then move on to the second one and do the same thing. This was helpful because it helped me to stay organized.

The thing that challenged me was finding websites because there were so many bad websites that didn’t have enough or useful information.

What motivated me was that I was interested in my topic.

My Constitution Project Research Topic and Question

My question is: what are the pros and cons of giving 16-year-old’s the right to vote? I chose this question because I want to know why people want 16 year old’s to vote. I don’t agree that they should lower the voting age. I think it is too young. i think ts too young because i don’t think most 16 year old’s will be mature enough to vote.
